Love that homemade Chex mix ; so much better than the bag that is pre made. I often wonder if it is just what they sweep off the floor under the conveyer belt.

Least favorite , ummm........... probably "Fruit Cake."

Not sure if I have a favorite...good food is good food (although growing up, bear meat hash and eggs for Christmas breakfast was the best meal of the day to me).

    Least favorite Christmas food is:

Didn't mind most of the MREs and B-rats however there was something somewhat demoralizing about getting turkey loaf from a can for Christmas (and Thanksgiving). Although at the time, we were very thankful, and it tasted great. Every time I cook, carve, and eat turkey now, I can't help but think back on the times I ate these turkey loaf meals in rather austere environments. Makes me thankful I have what I have now (although I do miss the military and those days very much).

25 Sneaky Names for Palm Oil

palm oil is one of those things that a little bit is probably OK , maybe even beneficial, but a wee bit too much starts causing problems/issues.
Like if you start forcing it down cows gullets. Because it's a cheap food source.

Don't even want to know what plumb pudding is. Especially if plumbers are involved.

Don't like the weird fruit in fruitcake. No yams/sweet potatoes or turnips for me. Goose is one of those things I could eat if there was nothing else but otherwise pass the chicken or turkey my way please. Do we really need to ruin carrots by mixing ginger in with them ? If you're bringing tofu or green bean casserole - stay home this year, we still have Covid.

I haven't had goose, a friend said duck is great but have yet to try it, I need to get over to the farmers market and pick one (easiest way)

This is my ultimate dislike lol. Not sure if it's just in my family, but all the "ye old tyme" cookies and goodies that for some reason were my aunts/uncles favorites when they were kids, and the only thing they seem to be able to make just annoys me.

We used to make 5 or 6 different kinds of cookies. As a kid we had loads of fun cutting, decorating, eating the dough, and then eating the finished product. We made reindeer with extra heads, and ginger bread men with extra arms. Told my parents they were three mile island reindeer. We don't bother with cookies much here.

Chex mix: all the chex with garlic, onion and celery salt, and worcestershire sauce.

Plumb pudding is a heavy steamed ring cake. It has suet, currants, carrots. put together, it is not too sweet. so it is served with 'hard sauce' a very stiff and rich frosting (with brandy in it) and is best in small amounts on the the pudding.

I've not liked the after taste of store bought eggnog. even spiked it is thin and has the after taste. I reckon stuff from the store is heated or cooked in some way too. yech.

The only good egg nog is made from milk right out of the bulk tank and farm fresh eggs and a little bit of vanilla. To make it extra special, one could add a little bit of the nice thick cream that forms when raw milk is left to sit a while.

we use a dozen eggs, real ones from a farm are best, but separated yolks and whites. 2 qt whole milk, 1qt heavy cream, 2c sugar, and a pinch baking soda. Supposed to have brandy or whiskey, but we make it straight up and spike it by the glass (coconut run, peach schnapps, melon liquor, Kaluah, Strawberry schnapps, Jamacan rum (overproof), Buttershots, Burbon). Our local booze wholesaler (Yankee Spirits) gains a lot of business from people miles around.

Raw milk is hard to come by around here, outlawed generally. One has to 'know someone'.

Don't like sitting down to a great meal with fresh home baked dinner rolls and then trying to spread hard butter onto them. It is like the butter is just taken out of the fridge!

Holy chit, same thing annoys me! I've been leaving butter out in a dish lately. Grilled cheese sammiches are much easier!

I have used butter bells and bought them for family members. However, I find they still breed mold. One must never let crumbs touch the butter...
