Well you get more heat in summer than we do and you als o get colder than we do in winter. The great lakes are a blessing to us... until they freeze over. That does not often happen.
14/71 and thats about the limit for inside temps here.....the dogs will start panting too much! Maybe an inch of fresh snow overnight.
Nope. Only bear problems now are how to cook what's in the freezer! Finishing off some bear chili for lunch today and will be making bear meat hunter's pie in the next few days. Never gets old and they're both great winter comfort foods! Oh, and 30/68 right now and burning more red maple and beech.
0f/70f while looking out at my neighbor’s gas furnaces venting/running every 10 minutes while ours sits idle as the wood stove warms us with sugar maple and birch. I went down and checked the lake this morning and found a good 8-9” of good ice but there is a a layer of slush on top needs to freeze down a little more before I get the spear house out with quad. Temperature not gettin above zero for highs by the end of the week should do it.
-20c/-4f at the moment with light granulated snow fall. Doug fir in the box. The weather guessers say this is the warmest it will be all week.
Basically stuck within a few degrees either way of -23 C/ -9 F for the next 3 days, but winds from the east making it feel a bit worse. Nasty pine stubbies and splitter trashed chunks for breakfast here.
While I was out removing stuck vehicles from driveway; wife loaded stove with 4 yo yellow birch. house is warm as stove room went to 90 before she shut it down
-1/73...shorts and uglies for now. Ash and burr oak overnight. 14" of heavy wet snow in the mid 30's*last week with blizzard warning Wednesday and Thursday...system moved into MN...they can have it! Bright sunshine and no wind for now...negative temps day and night thru Christmas weekend forecast.
75/28, headed to a low of 22, burning ash and tulip poplar in the fireview. Emptied the ash out today, the stove is going to be getting a workout later this week.
Currently hovering around freezing but only anticipating a 5 degree drop overnight. Burning another mixed load of cherry, hickory and spruce. I’ve got a little Bradford pear staged up for the morning, which I’ve never burned before. I’ve been trying like heck to burn up all my random odds and ends before I inevitably have to tear into one of my better looking piles
32/78… threw two chunks, 1 oak and one mulberry… on a hot bed of coals…. Been some beautiful rolling secondary flames….
23 this evening. A prediction of 17 for a low. We are usually a few degrees cooler this time of year where we are. I just loaded the Wood Gun gasifier with a mix of Hard Maple, Beech, and Ash. Should get us through to 6-7am.
