First off I haven’t posted in awhile so I’m doing good and Happy Holidays. I found some ash and oak in one of my scrounge spots. I concentrated on ash today. Got a nice truckload. I will go back tomorrow and get some red oak.

Nice score! Unless someone was saving that for me I would be there with a loader and trailer hauling it all now. That's nice looking stuff.

Well hey from a fellow CT hoarder.
You splitting that by hand? Ash generally seems fairly easy to do by hand. Not as brittle as oak.
I split a little by hand this summer, enjoyed it a bit.

How many cord do you estimate is there in that pile?

I split it all with the Fiskars X27. There is allot of wood there right now. Was a nice day to be outside.

Went back today, a guy even older than me was cutting at the red oak pile, I cut a bunch more ash and finished the load off with some oak.

What is the etiquette when that happens? Did he say hello or ignore you? Is he a member here I wonder?

We talked. Sounded like his voice was hoarse. We respected each others space.

Is this at the town dump? Looks like some good wood to be had? Nice getting after it.

Like others have said, good looking pile of wood. Don't see many Dakotas around here anymore.

I used to have one, 2wd. A decent mid-sized PU.

This is at a town owned location in Granby. I’ve accounted 5-6 cord there over the years. I saw a few other people scrounging there this weekend. One guy told me the town and Eversource dump there.

Nice to have a little source for the occasional scrounge! Do you check often or go there when the need to hoard strikes you? Problem is it strikes me everyday.  :tree:

What strikes you more? Needing to hoard, or the Missus?
