Pine is fine. That was sure a lot of sap dripping out. I think I would let it sit for another year before burning it.
There is one thing I will say about the Lodge Pole pine that is standing dead from beetle kill. Very little sap in those trees and as dry as a bone. A lot of them that I cut down are what is called here old slow growth. I have counted up to 140 years on some.
When space is freed up, this will get stacked close as I can to my wood furnace in the basement. It’ll stay there till spring. It gets 80ish degrees on a routine basis down there. Hopefully a couple months of that will bring MC down even more. This wood laid outside in log form for a year because I wanted to mill it since they were in our front yard. I’d have to look back for removal pics to get an exact date. They were pretty much dead standing too. Very little green at the very top of one, other was all brown. I was honestly surprised to see that much sap.
We burned it for camping wood last summer. I think Miss July got bronckitis after one particularly windy weekend sitting around the campfire.
