Only burning 2-2.5 cords of wood a year I’ve always been able to mostly have it stacked in single 16” rows, occasionally rows back to back. I’m going to build a new woodshed and since I’m planning on burning more wood I am contemplating at least a 2 row deep shed if not 3 deep to conserve some space. Any opinions on the difference of seasoning time between 1 or 2 or 3 deep rows in a top covered woodshed?

I leave a space when doing multiple rows. Mostly double rowed in my stacks. I have some in a shed and leave an inch space. It gets good wind flow from the open side.

Build your wood shed with vented sides and back and you’ll have a lot less to worry about.

The way my space sits is the shed will be open front and back lengthwise facing north and south with vented sides.

    You should have no problem.

I am not afraid to stack lots of rows together. I think at one time I had around 20 rows stacked together. No problem. Here are a couple older pictures.

But my favorite way of stacking is 3 rows together. I makes it easier to top cover.

20221116_111618.jpg 20221116_111751.jpg I typically stack in two rows of pallets, two pallets deep with a gap between the front and back pallet rows. Pallets have 3 rows of splits each on them with a little overhang in the gap. I leave uncovered the first year (3-4 year rotation). This is what I processed in 2022 with pallets sorted by species (different drying times). I have pretty good airflow.
