Well a few years have passed!!! Time for a bit of an update - moved house, installed a new stove, lots of fun things happening!

    Still burning :dex:

Spent some of Saturday with the eldest (8 going on 16...) turning these (with the help of my trusty Makita battery saw!):-

    Into these:-

    Finally ends like this:-

Then into my wee kindling shed :p

    Stay safe guys and girls!

So having moved to our 'forever-home' in the December of 2019 we set about making it ours and have been ever since.

One of these was to get a fire in there...! There was nothing when we bought it!

So we decided to look at the chimney in the 'study/snug' and found this:-

    20201201_194020.jpg

    So got out these:-

    20201201_201343.jpg

    Filled this:-

    20201201_202838.jpg

Had fun (!) on the way out:-

    20201201_203748.jpg

And hooorrraaaay, we have a fire!

    20201201_205610.jpg 20201201_210600.jpg 20201201_205940.jpg

Then turned my back and WAHAY, found this on Gumtree for £100

So I said thank you very much I'll have that!

    And before long:-

So that is part 1 of my journey to heating my/our new home with wood!

Part 2 is a lot more involved, very pic heavy and will be along shortly!

Did you install a liner in the chimney? Appears to fit in there nice and snug.

Nope - no liner, just shoved it in and hey ho all good! I actually burn more coal in there than wood to be honest, just seems to work a bit better with the little cassette type of insert.

Isn't that sacrilegious behaviour for FHC members? Does it warrant a demerit, or yellow card or something?

on the off chance. Do you recognize this English stove? I had it for a year and can’t remember the name. Named after the city in England where most of the cast iron is made if I remember correctly.

It looks like a Coalbrookedale Severn, named after the river Severn which flows through Coalbrookedale and Ironbridge - the birth place of the industrial revolution.
