both great tools but a pevy or cant hook is indispensable for rolling big stuff

I like the classic Peavey wood handle look myself but there isn't anything wrong with what you got there. You will enjoy them. The pickaroon is an incredible back saver and a great tool for pulling big rounds up onto their side.

I purchased a LogRite cant hook last fall. It's worth every penny and wish I had purchased one long ago. What a back saver! Last week, I took delivery of a Peavey pickaroon. I will bet that I will love it as well. Work smarter not harder; as I've read somewhere.

Are you getting the optional log stand?

I'm not planning on it right now. Typically I cut through approx ¾ of the way, along the logs length, and then roll it over using the can't hook.

The log rite looks great, but I'm trying to find one a little cheaper.... :emb:

I think the log stand is a luxury.

Smart tools. I'm impressed they are bright colors. I spray paint my tools bright yellow. Much easier to find and better to avoid stepping on them.

I bought one over 25 years ago from a company that is still in business and sells tools etc at a discount. Boy that was a mistake. I think I tried to use it two times. Pure garbage. So after purchasing our new stove, knowing we will continue to burn firewood quite a bit, I decided to pull the trigger on a good one. Let me tell you, it's made well. IMHO

I agree with you. I bought one of the lesser ones for use at my camp and was immediately dissatisfied with it. Better to spend 2x for a Peavey brand or LogRite and get a tool that is well made.

Nice looking tools Doug! I have both of those on my preliminary x-mas list already. :)
I'm done cutting what I have this year. I got a small 8 cord stockpile of tree length
at another site I'll dig into next spring, I'd like to have both of the same tools you have
    by then.
