I have done it many times and replaced lights so many times over the years I can't count. Son of a bitch did it again , I backed into a pile of pallets, broke my driver side light and broke off the license plate bracket. I am still running light bulbs it's always a crapshoot whether they are going to work or whether I am going to have to fix them . I guess it is a good thing because I had a hard time getting the bulb on that side seated properly to function last week. Time for new lights again, I got an aluminum license plate bracket and some submersible LED's. Hopefully they will function a little better as long as I don't smack into any more crap
I've smashed side lights but not the rears. Did convert to those LED though. Maybe look at the Jeep aftermarket for some kind of metal guards?
Oh yeah I did see those metal guards that are available before. Last time a guy came over here with a big dump trailer, he smacked into my big chunks of wood I had there and tore his light up big time
No trailer here, but i feel your pain. Ive broken more than one tail light on my PU's including the current one. Too cheap to replace so red duct tape to the rescue. Either backing into something or the errant tossed split missed its target.
oh you know, I totally forgot about that, when I was flinging splits like a madman I broke the one on the right side on the trailer
This is bringing back memories now, I had my Wood haulin trailer and I had a little one bike motorcycle trailer, I always parked them side by side, well one time , I just perfectly backed up and broke the left tail light on my little trailer with the right light of my bigger trailer. That was a , I can't believe that chit just happened , moment WTF you can't make that chit up
Metal guarded oval led lights are the best. Way less issues and less chance for smashed lights. BTDT. The oval LEDs are easy to swap if you ever do mess one up.
I started wiring new trailer lights with those little blue mortise and tenon quick disconnects. New light, female connector, unplug the busted one, plug in the new... Rolling logs mostly.
Ha Ha , Hell ya, I have bullet connectors on mine too You can't keep stripping more insulation off the wires and rewiring them the wires will get too short
If you are looking for work my company is hiring. I’m pretty sure refusing to plug the trailer in and dragging the wiring off is a requirement.
Countless! My last ones lasted about 2 hours. New lights , wires front to back ; the whole package. Job done. Now load wood. Drop log on new light , one down. Finish loading trailer. Off to parts store for another light.
