Honey locust?

Never had it before but definitely smells like locust. Any experts out there?

 

Washington Hawthorn is my guess.

 

Almost looks like apple. If not, another fruit tree.

 

I will go in the “could be” category. The honey locust I have cut/split isn’t sweet to my nose it’s more sour & funky smelly, almost putrid.

It is usually pinkish/salmon colored but camera settings can affect the color in photo’s. That does look pretty brownish though.

Im with the could be category as well. Color is a bit darker and bark doesnt convince me. I dont recall it having much of an aroma.

I thought that initially too. After more inspection, not sure. Here's some for reference:

 

Should be good heating wood.
I have seen some furniture and cabinetry made out of it and it was very nice work.

 

Cabinetry made out of honey locust? Do you have any pictures? I was actually interested in that...

 

Sorry no picture but I can say it was very attractive work and I was surprised it came out of what many would regard as a trash wood.

 

This to me would rule out fruitwood. I just processed a large honey locust and none of the wood had a two-tone center.
