Thats not a bad thing. Ash won the poll for most favorite firewood here.

 

Not complaining about ash at all, of course... just like beech too! My ash fire this morning was -- insert Mr. Burns voice here -- EXCELLENT!

 

When was that poll?

I recall the one and only true king of firewoods....the majestic Red Oak taking that title. Ash came in second.

Not all of us have access to oak but do to ash. So the ash would be a winner here.

Never seen a beech around here. Looks like solid wood.

 

I don’t know about that. Red Oak is one of the most abundant hardwoods across the nation, and Ashes are dropping like flies from the beetles

 

He doesn't take oak, so in his mind, ash coming in 2nd IS 1st place.

 

You are welcome to come out for a walk about and you can point out all those Red Oak trees for me.

 

Might have been prior to your arrival. There's been so many that have said ash is their favorite.

Beech is my favorite firewood. We have a ton of Red Oak around here but I go out of my way for Beech. I have burned 100% Beech for the last 9 years and hopefully will going forward. Like BuzzSaw Brad posted it seasons in one year and more BTU's than Red Oak. You can't beat it.

 

Emptied the 046 and probably 1/2 the 572 before the rain chased me out. No loads today.

 

Mike running a Stihl??? Rain delay here as well. Get that beech!

 

Take the 046 and carve "KEEPING WOOD" into the trunk with the carved initials!

Nope. I have the later version...an MS460. Same one i offered to Dave. The saw whisperer has worked his magic on a few of my saws and maybe more in the future.

 

Do many people walk along that road? Ffs I can’t believe someone carved it. There are a few beeches around the campus I work at that have been carved on for decades.
