Those will get some nice splits.
Looks like you might have a good size pile already.

It looks like a lot of your wood is already cut and split at least to sone big chunks. How does this compare to the past? Will your workload be less this year due to preprocessing sone of it? Have fun and good luck!!

I try to get as much of the pile to at least OWB size so when we have our annual fill the lean to day the pile doesn’t bottleneck at the splitter. It’s going to rain three days straight here so got all the big noodled and then split down in splitter some more. Got a couple pics parts way through but then too dark for final pics, so will try to add tomorrow. 60B97A57-CDC5-48E9-AA1C-A2AB90324B37.jpeg AD80B55D-8FDE-4FCE-B485-18799BE149EC.jpeg BA60EE72-0167-482E-92B1-452BD5FA0693.jpeg

So here is the final result, and commencement time of now burning lean to (junky stuff all gone), a nice changeover when raining. :) 84103C55-C2AB-4189-AD97-C2BB69AB66B3.jpeg 74D013AC-0B47-42F2-B777-7C757373F243.jpeg 4FD879D1-B42A-4731-9C0A-052DD78B930D.jpeg

Did the pile end up on the lean to or are the pictures of the pile what is left after filling the lean to? I’m confused.

Lean to is as is today and I’m starting the winter burn. Have been burning junk up until now. The pile is for 23-24 winter, and will refill the lean to. The lean to and pile are separated by my processing area if that make sense

when the rain stops I’ll add a pic further away

It makes sense. In the past, I thought the pile had been cleared and the lean to filled at the end of the day of processing.. now it looks like you are further ahead on your wood than in years past.. that’s a good thing…

Rainy day here but this is a pic from further away. I do think I’m a little ahead, with the lean to day refill scheduled for mid April, plus helpers all take pick up loads home. So more burning than hoarding for next few months, unless something falls down. :) F320A13D-6E22-449C-93E4-CF1B86A5AD98.jpeg

I am so envious of your set up and work to keep ahead. You motivate me. Someday I hope to achieve and have 1/2 of your wood pile ahead.

Well, Mr OWB eats wood. We will burn most of that leanto between now and 4-15-23

and the pile to the right is right now big enough to refill it and send about 3 cords to helpers

So in that picture might be 2.5 winters best case, which is why I cut a lot. Could never do it without arborist friends who give me trailer loads of logs that their customers don’t want

Greg, I had the newer version of the same size OWB. I don't know if you do this already but in the warmer weather, I would build 1/2 a fire in the box. That is, I would load it up like a -40 night; rather, I wuld stack wood on 1/2 side of the firebox. The next load, I would stack it up on the other 1/2 of the firebox.

Any stove is going to burn as much woos as you put in it. :handshake:

I like that idea. Right now I make a smaller stack about a foot back from the door. Rake out flat in morning and repeat. But when it gets colder I’m gonna try your method

when I first got it, filled it with like two wheel barrows and it ate it all. So then I researched and now try to literally load to match temps of evening so it’s alive but slightly under the 170 degree minimum setting when I come back out in the morning. But they are pretty hungry things! Nothing like a nice inside insert.

We miss our OWB. Unlimited hot water and all the heat you want. Best part is, the mess stays outside!

I ended up buying a new house and then bought a Kuuma Vapor Fire furnace to replace the Energy King wood furnace that was in the house.
