Dex - I'm not put off in any way from a port job, the testament is in the videos you guys post. Just thinking along the lines of the folks that may start navigating to this site and get into a firewood saw.
Once you've run a mustang a bit you may want to upgrade to a corvette (even if its the same engine chevy>ford)

    Very true.. My apologies. :)

CAD has many levels. I am in a very severe stage. :(

As far as stock saws go? It's best to buy a Stock saw that is suited for your needs. Rather than a saw you have ported to meet your needs. I am in a minority group, so thank you for bringing that to my attention

The 441 is fine saw. It's a Corvette in its class for sure.

I'm not big on modifying new stuff. I did some mods on a brand new Yukon years ago and when it threw a wheel bearing with 8k on it I got stuck with the bill. I'd like to tweak the motor in my truck a little but with all the emissions crap it has I'm leaving it alone till 75k. Once the warranty ran out I'd probably tweak the saw.

Totally respect that. But you are going from what a MS250 (if I remember correctly), your going to be totally impressed with either one (441 or a 461). Good Luck and hopefully we will see a picture of one in your future.

Sees are easy. Just buy an extra muffler if catastrophic failure occurs. Toss it on and carry into dealer. Or leave out as is. With a dull chain out will beat a 250

Yeah no doubt. The 251 does most of what I need but I will get a bigger one hopefully by spring.

Let's start with this..... What do you want in a saw? Those are two different machines for sure. Both run well stock, the 441 likely will take 6-12 tanks to wake up to it's full potential. Do you want a 3/4 ton pickup with power windows and cruise control or are you more the 1-ton (single rear wheels) with crank windows and vinyl interior type?

    $969.95 is DSRP on the MS441C-M 25"
    $1089.95 is DSRP on the MS461 with a 28"

And Mike is correct that the price usually moves about $10 or so with each jump in bar size. Pricing on saws this large are usually negotiable, especially if you have an established relationship with your dealer. Never hurts to ask.

Mike, those prices are a steal and they obviously are not looking to make much $$ on new equipment. Buy that MS441RC-M you've been eying already will ya? :saw::cheers:

The 441 was $780 just a few weeks before that. They hadn't updated the sticker. They would have to order the R and probably not get the same deal on it I could on a half wrap model. I'm not buying new since the Solo probably will cut within tenths of a second of it. The 372 and 046 are just fine.

The 441c in my opinion is a 1 saw choice for the firewood cutter..it screams wit a 20" and will run a 28" full comp when needed..
my 441c with 20" was $959 plus tax new from the dealer...

But if the 461 is only that little bit more I would buy it. There basically the same weight!

I'd rather have the extra torque over the comfort.

Great explanation. My truck is actually a 1 ton with power everything but not the lariat so I fall in the middle..lol.. Either one would be a lot more than I have now. Probably depends what they have in stock sometime after Christmas. If they were both there I would probably spend a hair more on the bigger saw. I don't mind paying for things so long as the product is premium.

There is far more tech in a 441, AV springs, better filtration (much!), and of course M-Tronic to name a few. The 461 is basically a 460 with a much more efficient engine and they run better than a bone stock 460 as well.

The filtration is moot if you run a max flow without the cover. I know it doesn't look as good but is function over looks for me.

You could just tell all your cuttin' buddies you got a discount on a saw without the filter cover.
