Leave the thermostat set at 58*. Do not light the wood stove but leave a small stack of Birch and Ash splits and kindling next to it. Shortly after the extended family and guests arrive for dinner and you have taken their coats, somebody will breach the thought of using that beautiful firewood and kindling to make a nice ripping fire! You should be able to steer the conversation from there. Problem solved!
