Looks interesting, price is right if quality is ok. Edit: I am not getting this to post right, gonna try another way.
For that price i see no downside. I run a 27 ton and show it no mercy with gnarly logs. It has never failed, not that i split a lot of them.
Only down side I see is that it looks like it's about knee high! I'd have to get down on my knees to use it!! I'm just looking at the tires...they look like there 8" tires (which is really rims).
It can only handle 20.5 inch long. Only weighs 130 lbs. Seems pretty light duty. What is shipping on that? It can't come on a standard Amazon truck
I have been noticing that brand of equipment. This has 10 inch tires. Does appear low to ground. No vertical splitting option. 16.5 inch max diameter rounds. IMO this splitter isn’t beefy enough. I would pass. Thanks for heads up.
Post #1 does not show on my screen. Not sure what bushpilot did on the post as it appears others can see it.
Bomgarrs has splitters on sale also. Showed the ad to the boss and I think he is actually going to get one. Can’t remember exactly the price but I think $999 after a $200 rebate for a 25 ton and $1399 for a 35 or 37 ton. Black diamond branded. Hope he actually does it, anything will be better than the homemade POS we are trying to use now.
If I had a bunch of cash to play with and room to store them, it seems like a person could make some money if’n you bought a handful of Black Friday splitters and sat on them for a year or two then resold them. (Put them on an auction maybe)
If I could find a 25ton for $999, I might would buy it. My TS Countyline 25ton cost me $699 in 2017, on sale from $899. Now, that exact splitter costs $1799! Is that not unreal? To double in price in only five years! I do not know if it's on sale but if it is, it's probably $200 off, that is what they normally do. I know others have had good luck but I have not been too impressed with my splitter, I have had multiple 'problems' since 2017. Right now, it's humming, fingers crossed, as I have several firewood orders in hand. I was ready to buy a Super Split, but they are backordered.
Seems like most of these big box store splitters are the same splitter with different paint and a few changes. I had the Country Line 25-ton (2016 built by Speedco) and other than a small leak from a loose clamp have had no trouble with it until first of the year fire. Now have the CL 30 ton that is made by a China company, CTL if memory serves me correctly. Like the fast cycle times and Kohler motors that are on both splitters have been easy starting and trouble free. Not a fan of the axle placement on the 30-ton but work around it. For the price I think they offer a good value for those of us who cannot afford the commercial splitters.
I am out on the score, no Word to lay my hands on! (Oops) Like the verse, if its from whom I think it is, could answer a longstanding question. Sca
