That’s ok. I’ll start the conversation. They’re talking about it whether they like it or not.

We went around the table, and not one person said they were thankful for wood! Not. One. Person.

They're not interested, in my circle. I guess this is my gift. Outside here, I really don't discuss wooding other than 'we went out today and chopped wood'. No one's as impressed with numbers, money saved, achievements, or milestones reached, as we are. No one enjoys the heat and measure of independence as we do either.
There is some wisdom about not casting pearls before swine.
And, As buZZsaw BRAD stated, that's why I'm here.

Was there any truth to that?
    16 cord seasoned
    16 cord at my house
16 cord on the west side

I've answered equally evasively given the audience.
'He's sitting on almost 40 cord' is not necessarily information I want broadcast around here.
'course 40 cord isn't a number most folks here would appreciate/fathom.

Q: Are you done with wood yet?
A: I dunno, you done breathing yet? Same.

    About 22 in various stages.

That counts split and stacked, rounds and logs that need bucked, also this year's supply

No talking about wood here. But when the guests drive up, I always see the look on their faces when they see the wood stacks.

That's a lot of wood!! A couple years supply there once split?

What is it that they're not saying? We get a lot of admiration here. Not too many detractors yet.

Leave the thermostat set at 58*. Do not light the wood stove but leave a small stack of Birch and Ash splits and kindling next to it. :stacker: Shortly after the extended family and guests arrive for dinner and you have taken their coats, :shiver:somebody will breach the thought of using that beautiful firewood and kindling to make a nice ripping fire! :fire: You should be able to steer the conversation from there. :BrianK: Problem solved!

Probably nobody has endured this one. "Do you think you have enough wood?" said sarcastically. Of course, I always answer, "No!"
