Put a new detent valve on my splitter and this is what turned it into time consuming headache. I didn’t have a hex big enough to fit. Went through every tool drawer, box and bag twice and couldn’t find a bolt that might fit. Did some g searches looking for tools needed to install prince valve and couldn’t find anything. $&@“! Trip to autozone and they didn’t have any individuals big enough. The guy there recommended hf, but that’s 30min away and this quick fix had already exceeded my level of patience, so I bought the set. I try to leave and my truck door won’t open. Ooph The good news is that there are no leaks.
In a pinch a bolt of the proper hex size and vice grips or a pipe wrench on the bolt shank works. Edit i missed the bolt part.
Punch or chisel shaft or in a pinch find a chisel that fits diagonally & use a pair of vise grips or a wrench on the shaft end.
A bolt works if it isn't too tight ; I have done that in the past. Or the good old belt grinder and a piece of round stock and grind your own. Look at the bright side ; you now have a set. So chances are you will never need them again.
A plastic dust cover with a pull tab would be more user friendly for folks that don’t own a 9/16 hex.
That would totally inhibit the ability of some yahoo at the factory to run them home with a 1" impact making them stuck as heck!
