Thank you for the responses. A tree service was taking the tree down and I managed to scrounge a trailer full of it. It was hard to buck and super heavy to load!

Haha scrounged more maple today so i guess buZZsaw BRAD is an influence! Thanks for helping with identifying that wood. I've mostly encountered Ash scrounging so i am interested to see how Maple performs as firewood. I'm from Litchfield in the North West Corner.
...but the question is am i a good or bad influence? Ill let the other Connecticut guys chime in with an answer. Maple is great firewood across the board. Silver is great shoulder season wood and dries in less than a year. Red the most common in the state , always reliable and dries fast. Norway is an invasive species comparable to ash in splitting and heat output. Sugar has some great btu's, dries in a year and ill take over oak any day. Nice country up there in the NW hills.
