    Did a little bit of splitting today. Nice change of pace from running the chainsaw. This pile will be for 2022. Mix of red d white oak with a little hickory mixed in.

    Yeah, in 4 years it will have to be seasoned. Are you going to top cover it now after stacking, or later?

    Horkn I usually top cover during the winter, and let my stacks breath come spring.

    Nice looking wood. You should keep track of the moisture content every year to see how fast (or slow) oak species really season.

    This batch is for 26-27 burn season.

    Good idea. I am thinking as i cut and split at each tree top form my timber cutting, to leave in place and pick it up layer to stack, when the bark is falling off.
