So a friend has a buncha gasoline that he picked up during covid, and had been sitting in his shed unused and untreated since then (2+yrs). He decided he won't use it and before I refuse it wonder if I could use it a gallon at a time here and there, mixed w freash gas....and if so machinery I should avoid using it in. If at all.
Its enough gas that I want to ask (SEVERAL jerry cans).

If it doesn't smell bad get it and run the heck out of it. I'd put it in lawnmowers and run it or fill up my old truck with it. If really worried mix it 50/50 and throw Some seafoam or berrymans in with it.

If your talking like a modern vehicle sure put a gallon in a full tank it won't even notice it. Is is "a bunch of gas" or "a few Jerry cans" worth? Because the two are very different. I only say that because when I'm fully stocked with fuel I have over 30+ gallons sitting around in fuel cans alone. That's not counting what I could store in the boats tanks to siphon out if needed and another 32 gallons of I have my old k10 filled up.

If your worried or only have newer fancy stuff and vehicles don't stress yourself and worry about a few cans of gas.

Yup, if it looks and smells OK I'd use it...at least in some of my stuff, the mowers and like...maybe not the saws.

I'd add some Seafoam, or Stabil, let it sit for a bit and use it in older stuff. Blending it in would definitely be the best.

Run it through a 'Mr Funnel' to remove any water.

Was it in airtight containers? If so you should be ok if not I'd be leery.

I've had and used one of those funnels for many years but now haven't used it for a long time. Neighbor has borrowed it though. They work. As for the gas, I'd take it.

Is it non ethanol fuel? If not watch for water in the gas. Maybe buy one of those funnels that has a built in filter that removes water as well as debris. They are cheap at AutoZone and the like. Id run it in my mowers if no varnish smell.

Yup I’d take it. I’d fill the tank to 3/4 full and pour a few gallons in the vehicles at a time. Fuel injection is much more tolerant of not so great fuel.

    I agree^^.
If not, I'd run it through my daily driver but not something that would sit for periods of time w/o use. That eth content takes on moisture from the atmosphere.

I have a large one with double elements in it. When I fill my farm tractors from the bulk tank, the Mr. Funnel goes in the filler neck. They work good except for what remains in the bottom of the funnel itself that you have to toss.

Sorry for the late reply....loooong night at work. Did some errands, and then the boy and I split a bit of wood. Nap time over.

Regular gas is from 2019 early 2020.
In 5G jerry cans, stored outside (shed) sealed as much as a jerry can can be sealed I reckon.
    Prolly close to 30G.
I picked up some seafoam & one of those filter gadgets. If it isnt "off", I'll fill 2 5G gas cans with a couple gallons of old each, top off with fresh, then dump a couple gallons of that into a vehicle to be used.

Will check it out in the morning.

Headed for the shed, brought it all back home....50G in various plastic jerry cans. From the opening I did, all good smelling stuff.
Treat, filter, mix with fresh, dispense. I wish we could have bulk tanks here...

The fellow said he picked it up during covid-1 when prices were $1.50/G. His wife died, and more or less he quit living. Used to be rather active in the faith, built like a brick chicken house......

Take it and use it! I would have a spare fuel filter for the vehicle on hand just in case.

I have used gas 1-2 years old kept in red plastic cans many times!

I’m setting on 110 gallons of diesel in 55 gallon drums purchased at $1.00-1.10 per gallon, gonna use it up this winter when we have diesel shortages. I will use about 10 gallons with each fill up.

    That's sad to hear.

As to the gas. If it smells fine. I'd put it all into my modern fuel injection or older trucks no problem.
