Yes sir, it's working out great and it's rated for 80 mph towable. Don't know how good it tows yet. Even replitting to smaller sizes like we do, the speed is great. Split another pile tonight...3 hrs...
Ha, I sure don't want to pull that dump trailer to MI...that would really ne some gas money. I think this last trip up there, by the time we finished exploring to the border and back home was 7-8 tanks of gas...
Starting to get busy on the woodyard this week. Monday, we delivered a 1 cord load of mostly hickory, with some ash and oak mixed. New customer and farthest we have delivered, about 80 miles, 1 way. He was fine with the delivery fee of about $2/loaded mile. When he saw the load, he was even more happy, said he wouldn't even think of looking anywhere else for his wood supply. Wants a load of greener oak in late December or January. He said he might get a trailer to pick it up. Since we had the trailer hooked up and it was a rainy, misty day Tuesday, we used it to deliver 2 - 1/3 cord loads. New customers also. First load went to a classmate's sister, who recently became a widow. Gave her a discount and put some extra on the load. Hickory, ash and oak... Then we loaded oak for the next load. He left us a tip and then called to say how much he appreciated the prompt delivery and dump site. To GOD be the GLORY. We thank HIM for all these blessings.
I'm drooling over all that beautiful hardwood (hickory even!) and your trailer loading neatness! Here on the coast in this particular area we've got mostly spruce and silver maple with some winter moth-killed oak mixed in.
No sir. Our little bitty town, Deepstep, has about 120 or so people. Sandersville, where I work, is about 10-12 miles away, has probably 5-6k folks. Milledgeville, a 4 yr college town, about 20 miles opposite direction, is considerably larger. We have people close and far away that like our firewood. Just word of mouth, I guess.
Another busy day yesterday. First thing, we went over to my neighbor/cousin's house. He had 5 huge red tips bush/trees he wanted taken out. Got those down and cleaned up, took 2 dump trailer loads to haul it off. Then he gave us a big oak that GA Power crews had dropped. Still some left to get, I only had the pole saw with me, it cut the smaller pieces on the trailer. We then started loading the 1+ cord load of 16" splits. We were stacking on the last row, Wednesday, when a friend showed up, I had forgotten he had had a stroke, both his hands are crippled, just had major ear surgery, he had found out that one of his neighbors was in a bad way for wood, not much money, she's a widow and her daughter recently divorced and moved back home. He wanted to buy the wood for them. Gave him a discount and added extra to the stack. We can't outgive GOD. The conveyor speeded up the process Before we got it all on there, had to build some temporary sides... Got that delivered before the ladies got home, he wanted to remain anonymous. We then swapped trailers, and loaded 3 totes for 2 more stops. 1 customer wanted about 1/2 cord, last 2 totes were hers, other person wanted a truck load, so we split some 13-14" cut offs, threw that on the truck. These are the 275 gal short totes
Took a load to a new customer this morning. They got oak on the left for the fireplace and hickory & cherry, on the right, for his big smoker.
