Does Stihl still make a carbureted version of their MS362?

Just for $h!ts and giggles, what's he sell 555 and 562XP's for?

Can't find his ad but the cheapest I see for a 562 w/ 20" b/c is $730. I'll keep looking.

I have a carbureted 362 I might part with. I bought it new 4 years ago and I haven’t used it a lot. It seems like every year I cut bigger wood so I use my old 046 or my 572XP

 

I love my 361 and I probably use it the most of the three I own. I am only 43 but I am old fashioned and All 4 of my saws have a carb. If we've learned anything over the last few years it's to not assume computer chips will always be available. I would also recommend getting at least some money down on the one you want I bought my 661 because they aren't making them anymore and grabbed one of the last at the distributor.

 

My son and I stopped by one of the better Stihl/Husky dealers in our area Thursday afternoon. They didn't have a 562XP in stock but had a 555 w/20" b&c and both the carbed and M-Tronics MS362 w/20" b&c.

Generally, I prefer the way Husky's feel. Handling both the 555 and 362 side by side, the 362 felt noticeably lighter (which matters, bad back!), I like the way it felt over the 555.

As far as carb -vs- M-Tronics, the dealer wouldn't recommend one over the other. Said some guys like the carb so they can make adjustments, some like the M-Tonics so they don't have to make adjustments. I guess I'm kind of warming up to the M-Tronics aa little bit.

We told him about the issues with my sons CS2258. He said, there have been a few updates to the Auto-Tune. We're gonna bring it in and have him check it out. He's also going to see if he has any parts for our 036 Pro project saw.

The version 3 mtronic saws run well and a lot of the little bugs they had are fixed. Personally I’d by mtronic and after the warranty is up at least do a muffler mod on it. If your dealer has a 400 I’d look at that too if you can swing 90-100$ more. 400 is based off the 362 so basically same weight and feel with a fair amount more power.

 

If you’re warming up to the electronic carb saws 562/ms400 have to be two that you take a real hard look at. I love my ms400’s more power and lighter than a 562. Probably one of the smoothest saws I’ve ever ran and I’ve run a bunch.

Yeah, they had MS400's as well. I'm not saying I definitely won't get a MS400, I just don't know if it'd be worth the extra $100. I'm still going to use my little 346XP half to 2/3 of the time and I have the 365X-Torq for larger stuff. Right now I'm leaning towards a MS362 C-M (M-Tronics) w/20" b&c. We'll see.

We’ll just think the 400 and 362 weigh the same so if your in semi big wood you could just use the 400 all the time and keep the 365 as a back up because the 400 will do all of it and weigh less than the 365. This of course is if you decide to be ok with mtronic since the 400 is only that way.

 

A 462 is on a tad heavier than a 400. 12.8 lbs vs 13.2 powerhead weight. Another thing to consider NYH1 I ended up with both last Winter!

 

Yeah, I hear ya. My son thinks if I go M-Tronics, I should definitely get the MS400. I'm leaning that way.

Nope, definitely not getting a MS462. I want a 60ccish saw to run a 20" b&c. We can, "it's only a half pound heavier" ourselves to death....not going there!

Well neither was i. I had a real nice used 400 in my sights. What i wanted at the time. PMed the guy on FBM when he turns into a ghost and the listing ends. In the meantime a sweet 462 shows up for about the same price. Bought it. Three weeks later the 400 is relisted for sale. Came with several nice extras and looked like no more than a couple tank fulls of gas were run through it. Here's the thread

I have had 2 362’s and they are a good saw but in stock form not the most powerful and needs at least a muffler mod and a bit of timing if not ported. The 400 actually runs well stock but of course mine has already gotten an open muffler and some timing
