Was dropping a few more trees on the lot behind me and this white oak landed on the stump I had just made. With zero cutting it was perfectly balanced on it. I didnt think to take pictures until after I started working on the limbs and the trunk end then sunk down to ground level so I cut one 16” log off the butt end and it was perfectly balanced again. Could t have done that if I tried.
That will make for some easy bucking. I would have to keep working back and forth from each end to see how long I could keep it up there
Easier with two sawyers taking turns at alternate ends.. Perhaps jrider has stumbled upon a new style lumberjack game.
The unfortunate part is I was just about out of time and being as this is a lot in a neighborhood, I was afraid some kids may come along and play on it so I hooked a chain to it and pulled it down with my truck. Hope to cut it up tomorrow afternoon.
LOL! I can promise you I wasn't trying to do that. Honestly I was hoping it would land just to the left of the stump so I was about 2 feet off on a windy day.
Not quite as balanced as you but I was moving logs around for the mill and just sort of threw this on the fly out of the grapple and it just happened to land where it did. Not trying , that's for sure.
Haha I know—you made it clear in your first post. Plus, why risk shattering the trunk in the middle? Really cool that it happened, and bravo to you for re-balancing it for the pictures.
