Is that a good or bad feeling Joe? Money in hand and room for fresh inventory. The whole cycle starts over again.
It's a great feeling. Even though its the part of the process where I actually turn firewood into money, delivery season is not the part that I enjoy.
Still see lots of wood on the ground there Joe. I always throw some splitter scraps in our totes so customers can use it as kindling. Not sure if they do, but I do the same thing in my stacks and always nice to have available.
I may throw a full length sliver in here or there but I don't get carried away with it. The somewhat thick layer of bark and splitter scraps keeps the wood out of contact with the dirt for the most part which leads to a nice clean product.
It’s been a little while since my last update. I am now north of 215 cords delivered. Orders have slowed (thankfully) which has allowed me to get caught up. At one point I was telling people 3 weeks for delivery but I now have that down to mostly one week. It feels good not to have the pressure of being behind 50+ cords for delivery but now I have my sights set on the end of deliveries. Hoping by the first weekend in December. New logs have been rolling in and we’ve been working on that for next years stock and I have a good head start on that already.
Things have slowed down as I’ve passed the 250 mark. I am down to my last full pile which probably has just under 30 cords in it. The end of delivery season is near and I’m happy about that!
It all depends on the time of year. But delivery time is a solid 16-20 hours a week. Almost all of that is on Saturday and Sunday
Got this nice load of beech dropped off today. Already have a customer who wants it as don as I can get it cut and split
