They all get quicker when broke in. I had originally written the same thing, but it’s not quite accurate. The 4910 is about $400, 550 about $600, and 261 about $650. You’d have a little more into the ported Echo than the others.
But you can get the Husky for a lot less than MSRP. The Stihl, not so much.... I paid around 6 for the Stihl and could have bought the Husky for around 475...
I can get the same discount on Husky as I could a year ago. They have a much bigger margin than Stihl so dealers can discount them a lot more. If dealers are no longer discounting them as much, it's not because the margin has changed. It's because of the difficulty of replacing stock.
I guess I didn’t go around looking at what MSRP is right now. I know I bought 572s for $750 when I’d seen others paying $950-1000. I was simply going off of that. I haven’t checked on the cost of a new 550 in 6 months or so, but based on your retail, I would say that most folks could get them for about $575 PHO now if they looked hard enough. A year ago could get them for $460
Not where I live. I could grab a 550 with bar and chain for $550 which is still cheaper than the Stihl. That said, I'd still buy the Stihl for the feel in hand...
Wow that’s a smoking deal. I would say your the anomaly at that price. It’s pretty close to the Husky fleet discount price on a 550, and my dealer takes great care of me.
I think his handle on the price was pretty close given that saw prices have gone up so much the last several months.
550 XP® Mark II Chainsaw There’s no way you’re buying a 550 for 475 right now. I was just at the dealership and the best he could do was 550 a piece on 3 and that was well below msrp @679… which is around 200 more than it was a year ago.
I didn't say I could buy one at 475 right now. I said I could a year ago and now it's more like 550. So, 75 more. Not 200. MSRP was not 479 a year ago...
Wasn’t trying to argue. My $200 figure came from the 572. Was just trying to convey that the pricing as of late has gone up 5-10% every month over the last 6 months. But kudos on the passive aggression
