Either way wild or butterball, I don’t really care for turkey. Wild ones I’ve ever eaten I just breast it and throw the rest in the bushes.

Things have been tough for sure! This year is the first that my salary alone doesnt cover all our expenses. Luckily, the business that my wife started has been flourishing, so that has helped tremendously. Only way I am eating out these days is either expensed through my day job, or written off through the business.

Electric bills are up 112% as of August, so $575 electric bills in the summer with the AC were rough. The hot tub will not be filled this winter. Food is insane too. I am spending about $1000 a month on groceries.

Quote from the CDC, " Since early 2022, more than 49 million birds in 46 states have either died as a result of bird flu virus infection or have been culled (killed) "

I paid $6.99 for an 18 count of free range eggs of a NH brand because they were $1.00 off. I usually get eggs by the dozen, but 12 of the same brand and free range were $5.99. Eggs last forever in the fridge (I've never detected a taste difference between young and "old" eggs - and for the record, a month isn't really old in my house :D), so they'll eventually get used.

And prices for the mass-produced eggs was not lower (or minimally so).

Thanks to a Massachusetts law that was passed a year or so ago, the price of eggs has skyrocketed. All the premium cage free companies raised their prices too because their prices were now in line with the regular ones.

I had forgot about the disease outbreaks stuff. I know feed has gone up, at least $3-5 per 40-50 lb bag in the Tractor Supply and Southern State type stores, for the home producer types. I'm sure the bulk has gone up as well.
