I'm really just doing what I've been shown by other guys that were kind enough to share. I've spent hours and hours on the phone with some guys that have been building saws since the "good old days". I consider myself very lucky to be in a position to learn from these guys. I've tried to always be respectful of my elders......and to never step on any toes.
Done with those jugs.......thank goodness. lol Here's a few more pics. I cut a bit off the intake side of the piston to increase intake duration. I'd rather do that on this saw......the intake port is huge without lowering the floor. I did square up the ends of the intake......and rough it up a bit with 60 grit.
Well......I never started it before I tore it down. So there sure won't be any before videos. I've still got to rework the carb.......
I figured Terry probably fired it up........it had been run somewhere. How it ran before ain't real important to me. If it will pull this ten pin rim then it's good enough.
It better pull a 10 with ease . My stock one I had a pulled 3/8 9T and it was just unlimited coil and not even a nice muffler mod like you do. My woods ported 084's pulled up to 11 and I gave up trying to slow them down in just small wood timed cuts.
Pretty..... You should snap a pic of that saw next to a 372 just so some folks can see exactly how BIG that thing is. I had the opportunity to run a 3120 at Spikes G2G last year. What a ride!
Ive got both.... a 372 looks like a brick. a 395 looks like a cinderblock, and a 3120xp looks like a chimney block. It's unbelievable how much bigger a 3120 is to a 395. A 372 feels like a 346 in comparison. if I didnt have my heart set on milling the old walnut tree on my grandparents property to make a kitchen table, Id have no need for it. Spent countless hours cracking walnuts and picking them out of the hull with my Papa as a teen. He died in 06 and it has had a lasting impact on me to this day. Ive never been the same. Once my grandma passes..... I will cut the tree and mill it.
