Thank you and very valid point about the stove model. Think you know, but I have a P68 (I know, I need to add that to my signature). I do have to say that as I read reviews about MWPs, I find that most who are very pleased with them are burning them in Harmans. That may just be a coincidence, but it did stand out to me. I do appreciate that the Harman is good at eating any quality pellet, but even so, it can be frustrating to burn pellets that produce extreme amounts of heavy ash that remains *in the burn pot*, adversely affecting the flame and heat quality in a short period of time unless you constantly scrape it. That is what the Energex Canadians did for me in the first season, and it was a nightmare. If this is what I can expect from FSUs, then I will be happy staying with 2 tons MWPs.

I did burn 5 or 6 bags of FSUs in my Harman. Can't say I noticed anything bad about them. I haven't burned Energex Canadian in the p68. While I struggled with their ash for two years, I won't downgrade them because they do produce decent heat. The p68 heats my 2200 sq ft home with MWP so I have no need to spend 30% more for 6 to 8 more BTUs. After my experience with cleaning the Napoleon, cleaning this stove is a breeze. Plus the vent stays much cleaner. I'm convinced this stove extracts more heat from the same pellets. The ash is much more fine.

FSU's are generally a better pellet IMHO. Usually much less ash. I would give up a tonto grab a ton of you can.

I've burned quite a lot of both MWP's and FSU's in my P-61 and I don't see a lot of difference in ash between them. It's hard to judge heat output variance as the stove is self adjusting. It does seem to me that the FSU's burn a little slower. As ttdberg noted above, I've also noticed that most Harman owners speak favorably about the MWP's while other stove owners not so much. A couple of exceptions would be JT and Smokey, who have spoken favorably about them.

I found them to have a bit more ash than FSU's . Also, less dense. But your Harman adjust the heat output and other stoves on hi/lo do pretty much the same thing. I don't notice any difference come hi/lo season withalmost any pellet.

Well, first let me say thanks for the recommendations. I went to the store today thinking I had made up my mind about which pellets I would be bringing home. Turns out something very unexpected happened. I went to look at the inventory they have on hand and lookie what I found. Now the strange thing is this: a search for "Minute Man Pellet Company" doesn't yield a single hit. No luck with the UPC either. Funny, is it just me or does that bag have a rather familiar look to it? Who's got the lowdown on this development?

At the local Tractor Supply, of course. They told me a few truck loads had arrived earlier in the week so I went to take a peek, thinking they probably got more MWPs in. Instead, I discovered a boatload of these and Inferno Golds were the latest arrivals.

Yes, you have it right. Just do me a favor; don't go take them all. I need a small head start so I can grab enough to fill every available open space in my basement. Swear my wife is going to put me in a timeout after this. Oink. :)

If you call the store, or stop in, they very well may be able to tell you who made the pellets. Last winter, the woman in the local TSC was the one who got the info on their house brand actually being Lignetics.

So I just finished up 4 trips to TSC today to round out my stash for the winter. I pulled the trigger (thanks to savemoney) on 7 tons of Somersets when TSC had the special early buy program running. I already had 1 ton from a different local store. TSC prices with the early buy were much cheaper. First pic is the 4 tons I already picked up earlier this summer. Last two pics are from today when I added 4 more tons. It may be an overkill to have 8 tons on hand but you never know! I noticed that i could easily add an additional ton so I mentioned it to the wife and got a pretty big eye roll. I will take that as a no we have enough. haha

Funny story. I went to pick up a ton last night. They have a few different brands, currently. MWP Blend, Inferno Gold, and Minute Man. The guy asks if I want hardwood or softwood. Chuckling to myself, I said softwood and proceeded to point out a pallet of the Minute Man pellets. He brings it over and loads it into the bed of the truck. I asked him, "Do you know which brand of pellets are really in these bags?" He says, "I'm pretty sure they're Vermont Wood Pellets." Grinning, I said "Really, are you sure?" He responds with, "Well I guess it doesn't really matter, because all these pellets come from the same place anyway." Now I'm really grinning as I reply, "Yes, I suppose you're right." And with that, I happily headed home.

Not many 100% softies made in New England. Of the 3 or 4 I know of only one would be the likely pick. I don't think Vermont would venture into the box store brands! MWP isn't afraid to put made in Maine on the bags and they aren't making any AFAIK. The only other choice I could think of is Northeast but they already market to the box stores and don't have enough of a dealer network to worry about a rebagged brand. Unless I missed a maker?

So my guess is Currans 100% softies rebagged not to pizz off the pellet dealers.

Not sure why the UPC code is fudgie, Could possibly be on purpose to keep us confused??? IDK!! But JIC they are Vermonts, Can anyone post the Vermont UPC code???

I cannot imagine that they are Vermont Wood. I believe I read somewhere they were having issues with their plant and where well behind schedule. Would doubt doubt that the boxes would get them before the dealers.

Thats what I heard too, Having issues and keeping up with the demand has been tough. A local dealer still hasn't seen his orders yet.
