You need to fix that one bag. It sticks out like a sore thumb and makes the whole stack look soooo messy :D:rofl: :p

Yeah, that stack on the far left was a little wobbly, so I figured that may help!

I just got off the phone with Robbins. Matras are being rationed out to the point of who knows when you'll get some. I ended up switching to Energex American hardwood pellets. It's costing me an extra $35 total, but at this point I don't even care. I'm not a hardwood pellet fan in general, but I have never tried Energex. Any word on them?

Smart move. I think a lot of people will get shorted this year when product doesn't show up. I thinks its going to become not looking at the menu, but give me whatever you have here now....

I think the energex hardwood was also sold under other brands, possibly Stove chow or Fireside ultras? Somebody should know.

I believe that FSUs and Chows were blends. However, when I was at my local Agay over the weekend, I saw they had a sign on the counter for Hardwood Pellets at $350/ton. Agway normally sells NEWPS, which are not from a plant from about 20 miles away, but are also a blend. So, out of curiousity, I asked what hardwoods they had. The response was "New England Wood Pellets." When I commented that I thought they only did blends, I was tole that ithey were a blend, juts about a 67/33 percent HW/SW mix.

Seems like they are now following TSC's lead in regard to calling that type of ratio a "hardwood". They only keep pellets in the warehouse, so I didn't see if the bags had also been changed to say hardwood

I should have added, your at least the second person on the forum that was waiting for matras from Robins. Makes me wonder how many others pre bought, and are still waiting.

Nothing purchased from 2022, My 4 tons are the HD's sell out sale from spring of 2021.

I am guessing I'll need another 2 tons or so to complete this season? But should should be able to lessen that with more pink pellets in the attic!

Checking in here for 22-23 season. Hello Everyone.
I had bought a ton of Still River from Walmart last spring on a closeout for $100.
Still have 1/2 that ton left. Dirt in a bag with a few BTU's by accident.

Today I picked up a ton of Green Supreme from my local Home Despot for $308 a ton.
Forklift guy broke the pallet and opened up one the bottom bags so I had them give me a replacement.
At least he was ready to load me up when I got there.
In the past it sometimes takes them 1/2 hour to find the forklift guy and the safety observer/flagger.
So today, I was in and out of there in 20 minutes. That was nice

The last time I paid more than $300 a ton for Box store pellets was in 2008-2009 season.

That brings me up to 1-1/2 tons in house. 2 more and I'll be set for the year. Should be around $1K to heat the shack for the year

Gonna be an expensive heating season.
At least I don't have to get Home Heating Oil. Local Price is $4.93 a gallon At that price HHO would cost me about $3K for the year
The current powers-that-be are killing US.

Hope you all stay warm .

That seems like a lot for down there. I go thru 4-6 tons per year, but that 6 tons is during hard winters. But who knows if this will be a hard or easy winter, and I have no idea how big or tight your house is. Of course being prepared is always good too.

1200 sqft no attic insulation at all. No house wrap!! Extirior walls have R15 + R1 vapor barrier that we added. Hope to get at least and R 19 in the attic this year.

700 gallons of oil used last year as a reference!!

    :edit:
I'd approximate the tonnage to be about 5.72 plus or minus. I can't really compare as I don't know the efficiency of da dino sucker. If its higher than 76%(pellet eaters efficiency) than I might need more pellets??

    I can comiserate.
we went through 800 HHO G our first couple years in the house, 1894 build date, and that was just to keep the place from freezing. We also used 100G kerosene to space heat a room for the day, and then the bedrooms for the night. The last year we purchased HHO, it was $2.7x/G, $475/200G fillup, x5/yr = $2100/yr not including a couple hundred for kero and a couple hundred in electric to run the furnace blower.

I've insulated all the walls, top and bottom w/rock wool to stop the airflow between floors. walls are cedar shake, with aluminum outside.

We use 6C/yr to heat now: warm is throwing another log on.
