Nice splitter! I bought a dirty hands tools 25 to splitter and they went bankrupt a year later. Wish I would have bought a county line splitter just across the street at TSC. Get a side table its a back saver. Best of luck with your new investment!

Sweet spliter, I think you will like it. I had the older, non fast, 25-ton until upgrading to the fast 30-ton, the only one TSC had. First log.jpg

Congrats on your new splitter. Getting older does have its perks.

Nice. You will ask yourself why not sooner.

Keep the oil clean and it should last you many years.

They do tend to make the work faster and easier. Best to start splitting right too; vertically. No table required.

I was going to make that very comment... I split vertically, sitting and split mostly oak.

I hope you have good luck, I have this very machine. Mine has Kohler 265 6.5hp motor. I just replaced the carburetor (twice in a week), and hope this particular one works long-term. Only have had one day-long splitting session with this 2nd new Chinese clone carb. Also replaced in the past a hydraulic hose and also the main valve failed. It has certainly not been trouble-free but I don't know what 'normal' troubles users have with other makes. Mine seems to have had an inordinate amount of issues. When it works, I guess it's pretty good and decently fast. I couldn't stand to use some splitters that are much slower!

I note that your new model has a spring-loaded front stand, mine does not have a spring. Maybe they have made other improvements.

Consider picking up the slide-on 4 way wedge. It's not very heavy but does a good job on the right size wood.

You found it to work good? I have not bought one because others have reported that it is way too lightweight and won't hold up. And I split mostly oak anyway, might be a test! But I'd sure like it if it would work! Do you think it would work on red maple or cherry or similar less dense wood?

I really like my countyline, I second the motion on picking up the side table it is well worth having.
I also bought a magnetic dipstick for it as well as a drainzit line. It sucks draining the oil on that splitter.
The engineers definitely didn't think that thru I guess, it drains all over the engine mount and than goes where it wants.
Unless you roll the one tire up on a block so it angles.
I use the stock wedge, it works well enough for me. I like to choose how "thick of a slice" I want when I split it.
After using it for a few hours you will know if you want one though.
PS: be careful with that plastic can they give you for the manuals, I broke mine the minute it came off the truck, I assembled mine though as well. Either way, the mounting ears a bit fragile.

A couple other things that might help , you can take it or leave it.

Install an hour meter , inexpensive and a great way to keep track of maintinance and splitting time.
Wrap the oil filter with flexible magnetic sign like they use for vehicles. This helps pull small particles out of the oil that are floating around in there and they stick to the metal can of the filter.

    Just my 2 cents.

I bought one for half price for my 27 ton Black Diamond splitter. Drops right onto the factory wedge. I use it mostly on 8"-10" rounds, probably less than 10% of my total splitting time. The horizontal wings are too short to work on anything much larger. If I have a lot of limb wood, I try to stage them all at once to use the 4 way. Also, I've never used on elm or anything stringy. I doubt it would be very helpful.

Is that a black diamond? I’ve looked at those, trying to convince my boss to get a decent splitter at work. The one we have was built by his dad, and with just a couple more modifications it would be COMPLETELY UNHANDY AND TERRIBLY USER UN FRIENDLY.

that kohler engine doesn't have an oil filter- all you can do is use a magnetic dipstick.
I agree with the hour meter it was first thing I installed on mine. than the table

Sorry , I should have been a little clearer.

    I meant the Hydro Filter.

haha no you're right I haven't had enough coffee and wasn't even thinking of the hydro filter. It's a good idea. I went and bought a wix filter for mine.
Threw away the stock one after 5 hours of use.

Where did you get the magnetic dipstick?
