Hot dam what a ride! God looks out for children and fools.... Yep, just what you said Scotty. And why when I used to fell a lot of trees at work... unless you're learning and I'm teaching, you are not in my space near my tree when I'm felling to begin with.
Looks like it "pole vaults" itself off of an old limb or small tree off of the right side. The "pole" comes back past the stump right before the guy falls off of the log.
There was no hinge, it was cut off. The face is half the diameter of the tree and the debacle was finished off with the slope back cut allowing the tree to slide off the stump.
Watch it carefully, it starts to drop, I agree no hinge but what makes it lift is the pole/limb/small tree trunk under it on the right side, that pole then comes under and past the stump before the guy falls off of the log.
Incorrect. The entire thing is an example of what not to do. With proper technique this would not have happened. Here take a look at the correct method:
I have to admit, that made me laugh. He is lucky he didn't catch it on the chin. Would have hit his off button, for sure.
Youtube has many videos of madmen cutting trees down with sad but very funny results I find this hilarious. These three knuckle heads learned a valuable lesson.Reminds me of my hard headed cousin who I told him once he ties off the branch wrap the rope around the trunk of a nearby tree.Otherwise your helpers will not be able to hold the branch once it drops. He told me to shut up.He cuts it the two guys holding the rope are pulled toward the tree the branch caves in the top of his vehicle.I silently walk away !
