Just a little bit of Cherry a couple nights ago so my grandson could cook supper. Otherwise it’s Ponderosa for overnight burns.
Another load of sassafras this morning, with a couple elm skinnies thrown in. A mild 45 degrees here.
48/76 basswood and lumber cutoffs. Temps in the 60s and sunny most of the time forecast for the week ahead
46, overcast and damp. Boxelder and pine to take damp feeling out of the downstairs. Suppose to warm up throughout the week to 72 for weekend.
I usually try to hold off until Halloween, looks like I made it. But latter in the week the forecast says I’ll probably have to light the stove. Need to get some wood in the basement soon. Probably a mix of hackberry, river birch, and silver maple
34 F and snow coming down in an hour, burning a mix of willow and poplar. Working from home today so I might just stay in this chair all day.
5c/41f and raining heavy at times. It looks like winter is finally supposed to kick in around here with today being the warmest for the foreseeable future. The house is still toasty from last nights fire so I let it go out.
Another overnight of mild temps here. 44 heading for mid 60's. Today and tomorrow are sunny and dry so I better double time that log pile!
Pics of the new bar! Supposed to be 70 today and through this week, into the weekend, 76 on sunday! Hope the guessers are right. Wife let the fire go out yesterday.
Yeah... 70s for highs for several days... in November! And we've only just been working on single burns of chunkies. At this rate, we won't have to crack open any of the full wood to mid-November at the earliest. Got 11 cord ready to go in the stacks. And, at this rate, we're looking at only having to use 3.5 for the season. Heck, we've not even moved the wood rack into the garage yet, much less filled it.
2c/35f and pouring rain. Cooler air coming in with snow and cold starting this afternoon. No flakes yet... I better get the snow blower in position. Checked the washer fluid to make sure the vehicles have winter grade in them. Frozen lines bug me during the transition season.
$62 later and the new bar is now a used bar. Two more nice days and then wet weather. Better finish that log pile.....
Busy couple days hauling wood, with wife, younger brother, and father all playing supporting roll to me being a maniac with a Husqvarna in the bush. Weather still holding a few degrees above/below freezing, but possibly 3 days of off n on snow here. Poplar n pine in the reactor tonight.
We finally had a soaking rain overnight and today so even though it's 50 out, I started a shoulder season wood fire in the wood stove. It was 66 in the basement and 69 up here.
Its officially November and it rained today! Time for our first fire of the season! I love Fall. I've been busy with our home remodel project and haven't cut any wood. Another reason for the three/four/five year plan. I could take a year off and still be good for wood.
