First fire in the new Osburn

First small fire to get on with the paint curing process. letting it slow roll on the coals for a little then I'll put a couple pieces of ash on and run it back up to temp.

 

Very nice!!!! My magic 8 ball says years of warmth are ahead for you.

Thank you. I wanted a free standing stove but the MIL wanted an insert and you can't argue with the one paying for it.

What model is that? I installed an Osburn insert last year. I'm sure your gonna like it.

 

It's a matrix 1900.

 

I think mine was a Matrix 2000. Last year I burnt mostly cherry. This year is all oak. So I hope to get longer burn times this year.

 

We spent 30 years on this VC between my in-laws and the wife and I. I think we're going to wish we went one size bigger on the insert.

Why do you say that? The heat I hope is nice. Can't say I've had a bad experience with an insert yet but it wasn't mine. Still beautiful stove, good days and nights of that taking care of you and the family.

 

Just don't think this tiny firebox will pull all night burns when it gets cold and we start leaning on it.

Oh, yeah that won't hold an all night fire once it gets cold...my old 1.2 CF stove (different brand...elcheapo) would do about 6 hours, maybe...and if I was lucky I might could dig out some hot coals for a relight after an overnight fire... I have a Drolet 1400i now (1.8 CF) and it is better for sure, but almost have to get over 2 CF for easy overnight burns
