I'm lucky enough to work in an industry that utilizes a lot of Pelican cases, and have acquired a couple used ones that were being thrown out over the years. I hear you on the cheapskate part, but for $100 that case looks like a bargain. A real Pelican of that size would fetch exponentially more.

    Very nice!
agree a real pelican would cost a 100 more, it isn't a bad price at all and probably overkill for what amounts to gauze mostly.
but don't want stuff getting wet or crushed. My friend is using a storage tote and for a resupply store it's probably ok but I'd like something a bit more secure.
    overthinking things like always :emb:

I was going to say some kind of Rubbermaid/ sterlite(sp?) type tote/storage box like from wally world. Some of those have simple latching lids and can be decently strong for stacking within reason. Pelican type seems way overkill for first aid type stuff, but just my thoughts....

here's a fun one: ever do fondue? they use various gel and other fuel sources.

Essentially, you can cook foods at the table, it a little pot of heated oil. Those might be useful when electric is out, gas is being conserved, or portable propane doesn't need to be used.

I agree it probably is overkill but on the other hand, we never know what to expect or where we might end up.
pelican for my rifle but I won't pay the premium for storing 1st aid supplies. I do want a latch mechanism and the least water resistant.
I find something than change my mind, one option I'm tossing around in the noggin is the rolling bauer toolbox from harbor freight.
I like that it appears I can store gallon jugs upright in it and I have a gift card waiting to be used in store.

You can find surplus military Hardig cases of various sizes. I see them on Craigslist fairly often.

I do to. like I posted above. I wouldn't trust those investments in anything else. But it's really overkill for surplus bandages. or so I am leaning.
If one fell in my lap I'd put it to use. you can bless me with one for xmas though :cool::smoke:;)
I'll see if I can find a place in the states selling them, they seem ok from a glance.
I looked. Searching the listings showed nothing close, heck there wasn't even used suitcases for sale which seemed surprising.
Am I the only one in the thread stocking up on surplus aid? Ammo is all fine and dandy but hell don't bleed out on us!

sutures, staples, compression bandages, quick clot gauze and powder, normal gauze tourniquets, nasopharyngeal plus liquids. etc etc.
Don't forget the vented chest seals. Or go old school and just use the gauze wrapper .

One caution about the quickclot types powders is that it has to be brushed off when cleaning. It is easier to get the quickclot style sponge off, a lot less brushing of the wound.

Tourniquets- I personally prefer the R.A.T.S. verse the C.A.T.S. Way easier to put on yourself, one handed at that. I don’t remember what gen (5 iirc) that has Velcro that makes putting them on much easier than the previous gens. The non-Velcro is cheaper option, buyer beware. Way easier to carry/tuck the R.A.T.S. somewhere.

Training is key with using either. We shouldn’t forget to train family members. Everyone is on the team and needs to be proficient.

Glad you brought up the clotting powder. -The powder in my case is for ppl on blood thinners / superficial type wounds that love to bleed.
Debridment isn't as much an issue/bad with the newer powders vs the older one from a decade ago. Still needs done and It isn't my go to.
But it's better than nothing if you have nothing else. Just something good to keep in the kit.
better to not agitate a wound that has stopped bleeding than try and clean out the clotting and restart the bleeding.
If they are going to a hospital, different story they can deal with it better than out in a field with limited resources.

Not sure if you're still looking however I second the Plano storage trunks that Simon mentioned. I've been hauling this one in the truck for several years to carry all my chainsaw supplies (minus the saws obviously) and it has held up very well. It will easily hold gallon containers. Not sure why they says it has wheels though because it does not.

I wondered if My Patriot Supply was still operating. I have what they now call the AlexaPure Pro Water Filter but older and doesn't look quite the same. It's supposed to be on par with the Berkey filter system (I have both).

Good to know they're still out there!

Hi, it appears they are, interesting, they had that water filter on sale this weekend and I eyed it really hard! (wondering if it took the Berkey filter replacements).
