Nice day where I'm at decided to do some cutting to finish off a cord of oak I've been working on. Is this a white oak that's what I was thinking but wanted to check.
I think that looks about right but if those leaves are the ones that were near the tree, we might need more info however guys here know it better than me.... White in general though have the blunted leaves while reds are sharp at least that is a general rule. Look at the end grain and if you see the medullary rays, they'll be more prominent with 'smaller' holes reds have bigger ones, hence why they don't use reds in oak barrels or they'd leak. White-Tight! That may be more easier to tell when it dries out.
