16-year-old dies from motorcycle crash in Salina.

My wife (nurse/EMT) did chest pumps on the 16 year old while we waited for EMS/Fire/LEO to get on scene. She maintained comms. with the 911 center so first responders knew what was going on in real time. We knew the kid was gone. Her not having any EMT equipment to use, she just kept the chest pumps going.

Once they showed up, she had too play counselor to the 16 year old's sister who showed up on scene, that sucked! :(

Glad your wife was on hand to do what she could... and then to console the sister. As Jack Straw said... your wife is an angel. It's always sad to learn of people leaving this earth at such a young age.

I feel for her/you. My wife's a ccu nurse and has sat bedside, many times alone, with many who passed this past 2 years or so. The regularity of it really gets to people, hope she doesn't have to experience that frequently. How long has she been a nurse?

Tragic but God Bless your wife, that had to be very hard for her to keep herself composed.

    Prayers for all involved.

    Thanks for asking!

She was a nurse aid before she graduated high school. Got her LPN within a year or so after that. Been a EMT about four years or so.

ETA; I never answered your question sorry lol. She's been a nurse almost 30 years.

Daughter is getting ready to start med school. In her travels to gain experiences and hands on she is an EMT and currently is working as an ER tech, more or less same practices, does some more advanced stuff inline with paramedic. For being 19 years old starting this journey she’s come home and said a lot of stuff she’s had to do or see. It’s a rewarding job when things go good, when they don’t it can be hard on them. Tell your wife she did what she could and helped every way she could. Helping the sister was important.

NYH1 as others have said, God bless your wife for her service. It takes a special person to do it and I am thankful for everyone.

Our power went out a few hours one night last week. Just up the road from us, a motorcyclist his a guy wire to a utility pole. He was found by the rural electric crew when they arrived to address the repair.
