They should at least offer vehicles that hold up at least as long as the payments Last!

There's definitely less parts on an EV. Just count engine parts, and moving ones. Even on a 4 motor EV, there's still a ton less moving parts compared to say a v8.

EV Denali starts at 107k. Preorders sold out in 15 minutes. They didnt say the number of them. My guess very limited number. I imagine many orders are collectors, sheiks, and dictators.

Nissan's have notoriously poor transmissions and a high failure rate at low mileage. I'd steer clear of any of them that are ICE units.

Precisely why I didn't buy that new titan, as tempting as the price was. That and abysmal fuel mileage for no improvement on performance compared to the solid 6spd auto 5.0 I found. There's a reason they used that 6 spd auto in the super duty's until 2023.

Predatory companies that lend to people with zero credit and multiple repossessions like Credit Acceptance Corp are a big problem. People will finance a $5000 vehicle for double just because they have to. So many only have it 6 months and absolutely destroy it, or don’t make payment until it gets repo’d and them catch up the payments to redeem it. It’s just a game. I don’t miss dealing every day with that game.

Look for stuff from navy federal credit Union or some local bank stuff. Gateway lending is usually better stuff also.

That’s not even legal to operate without a CDL, as well as nowhere is it safe. It’s approaching Class 8 truck territory. What a joke.

Not true , if your towing for recreational use then no CDL is required . If your towing the same unit and getting paid ( commercial use ) then yes a CDL is required.

But why?! What is the use case for 40k behind an F450? Someone sat in a Zoom/Teams call and said this makes sense..... We'll sell a bunch...

If you are routinely towing north of 20K, when does it make sense to use a pickup vs a heavier chassis? I guess I could see some agricultural uses where during certain times of the year you may be towing that heavy (20K+), short distances, around the farm. But nothing even approaching 40K makes any sense to me. Plus, pickups of this capability are NOT cheap, what's a 40K capable pickup cost vs a Class 8? How long would a pickup last towing those loads vs a Class 8? How reliable would it be? Operating/Maintenance costs? Do we just stick a couple transmissions on the shelf, just in case? You know they aren't putting Road Ranger's in these things....

Perhaps it's just a theoretical maximum that in practical use would rarely happen. I guess engineering the same truck and slapping a 25,995lb GVWR on it and marketing it to last 10+ years just wasn't sexy enough....

The CVT transmissions in Nissans were the worst series of transmissions. I think every car with one has high failure rates.

The Titan has had other issues. My coworker is on his 3rd power steering pump? under warranty. I did 60k miles in one year...I couldn't be down 3 times for warranty work on one problem.

Yes and no. Get a CDL and you will know. But without one you will spend more time staring at blue light than not. And just tell me what in the world would you be towing 40k that wouldn’t be commercial purpose? Oh and your EV wouldn’t even think of it for more than 100 feet!

Your barking at the wrong tree ! Lol I’ve had a CDL since the day they first were required . I could have used the “ exempt “ option but I didn’t . So there’s that !
It’s black and white as far as recreational or commercial purpose and then it gets much more complicated when it’s for pay depending on what vehicle GVWR ect…. A, B or C .
What someone wants to tow with that truck I have no idea at 40,000 lbs nor did I ever say it was a good idea . Fact is a CDL is NOT required for recreational use . And give up the EV rants , it’s getting old .

Let’s go over that again and this is a key question: Are you towing for compensation, as part of a job, to get paid? If the answer is no, then stop reading, tell your friends they are wrong and move along.

The FMCSA specifically addresses this in its FAQ with question #3.

Recreation or commercial use is the key question when determining if you need a CDL. The FMCSA FAQ page answers this clearly. (Screenshot FMCSA website)
This should help clear it up for you tk !

Like I said yes and no. Prove you are towing at 40k for recreational use. What would that be? Over 24k combo requires class A for commercial. I too know the laws. Jump back in the EV and have fun!
