All the diesels went to some form of electronics by 98.5. The 94.5 and up powerstroke has HEUI injectors which fire with a computer controlling them.

I remember those "straight-line" body power strokes. Man did we drool over those trucks. Banks power kits, 4"+ straight pipe exhausts, exhaust brakes, and the 3 pedal setup of course. Guy I worked with had a silver '97 SRW F350 reg cab setup like that. That was my introduction to 'real' diesel power.

They're a good looking truck but far from a powerhouse. I always heard about them until I got my first Cummins. We hauled hay with one of the guys that talked about how much power the 97 stroke had. It wasn't even close when loaded.

My mom had a '99 'stroke that was bone stock. Dad's '03 DirtyMax felt like a Ferrari by comparison.

The farm manager I worked for had a '92 SRW 1 ton Dodge with the Cummins and three pedals. Loved loading it up heavy with round bales but damm did I hate driving it to town empty. :D

Old body style.7.3 powerstrokes are great trucks. I have a 97 f250 crew cab, 5 speed. 135k miles gets 17 MPG lifted with 35's on $0.60 cents a gallon biodiesel. Got rid of my 06 6.0 powerstroke, piece of junk. The new ones smoke the old ones in a speed race but are 8-12mpg. But the old 7.3 will will tow a tank up a tree.

That '92 Cummins was good for 24MPG tanks just driving back and forth to work. Try that with the new ones.

Sadly I can't get that here. When they pulled the sulfur I lost 4mpg. And now the agronomist tells me to buy it in the fertilizer cause there isn't as much in the air.:loco:

I make my own bio diesel. But, some of the big ag sales guys are snake oil salesman who couldn't sell used cars on the corner, let alone farm.
I used to run a tank of off road through it once in a while for the high sulfur content. The injection pumps need the lube. I know it's illegal and blah, blah, blah...
