Been letting the LP run the las couple of nights. The mornings are cool enough for a fire but the day warms up nicely so, no fire. Today, we hit 70!
Got up to 79 at the house today. We had a small fire this morning but we let it die. It was a good day to do some splitting.
Had a small fire this morning, had a good bit of rain today, in the PNW, and some SNOW up on the pass! That’s really good news this early! Split some oak withe the splitter the other day, well seasoned wood. Lookin good so far! Rain expected for most of the rest of this coming week! That’s good news, it’ll get more of the smoke out of the valley from the Forrest fires around us.
Just above freezing at the moment, and only supposed to warm up a few degrees today, sitting in your fridge kind of weather. Chance of snow this evening and overnight, so it should be a sloppy mess by tomorrow.
48. Have a small fire to take that damp feeling out of the house. Looks like high temps to be in mid 60s -low 70s until Nov. 6. Reminds me of a few of the Octobers when I was a kid. For me it makes archery season not so comfortable.
Well the snow finally came, all at one. Nice and cozy inside with poplar and maple. With the warm fall we've had lots of trees were still in leaf. Unfortunately the weight of the snow caused part of a mountain ash at my parents' place to break off.
We're supposed to get some of that white stuff over here in Sask, but more so down south. Just so you know, that mountain ash burns fine, and is actually alright for smoking meat, it's quite mild but nice.
Ya I think you are getting it as the system moves East tonight. Good to know. I brought the saw over to help them out and now the rounds are sitting in the back of my truck.
Looks like we just missed this system. We had a skiff yesterday but thats all. Im ok with it waiting a day or two. 5c/41f outside right now with doug fir keeping the house to toasty.
Thats interesting. Ive never thought of using it as smoking wood. Ive had a small amount in my stacks but dont recall how it burned in the wood stove.
Like I said, it's very mild, but you get a nice flavor and aroma on chicken or pork chops. Same with willow, as long as the bark is removed. Or maybe I'm just trailer trash and don't know any better!
52 here and on-again, off-again showers. I wasn’t planning on a fire, but when the furnace kicked on, that kicked me up off the couch Spruce is up to bat this evening.
