Me too but not including farming which, is really an expensive hobby, even more expensive with the cost of diesel fuel lately. ORD here is $4.50 a gallon.

Well, since Jay is the self-proclaimed cheapskate, this is the cheapest option I could find on 'Zon. I'd not want to have to clean all the parts to it if there was an "explosion" in the bowl.

This is the more $$$ option....much nicer solution, and easy to clean:

Our project for today! Hauled in 4 tons in about 2 1/2 hours. Much easier on the old knee's than slepping them down the stairs. I was too frugal to buy a slide. Wood was left over except 2 2x4's. Total cost $9.00 with faseners included. :D

jtakeman the plus side of that setup is no bending down to pick bags off the floor

I started with just the 2 boards. First bag hit the floor and exploded!! :headbang: The shelf changed the angle, slowed the slide speed down and the no bending was a bonus. Worked pretty dandy and my back didn't bark at me..

Finished up unloading the second run of shells yesterday......

Both runs yielded 10 plus barrels.....The boys really topped off the 3 yard can.

We are right up chuck azz full now....

Had a small fire last night for a while to take the chill off a bit.....

Fired up the little stove again just a bit ago.....

A very good feeling having the shell stock clear full heading into the fall season.

BEST PART WAS THE NEARLY SUMMER WEATHER WE HAD WED/THUR.....

I need to get the big stove serviced and ready to meet the coming cold season......

We went from Cold to HOT this year in one big jump.....The Big stove just got forgotten.....Serviced the AC and summer was here with a BANG.....

Now we are seeing the identical REWIND back from very warm to cold and WET....BANG....Overnight....

Rain here for the next several days....Snow in the Mt's starting Saturday ....Around 3500ft or so and up.....SNOW......

I have to admit, the extra month of very nice weather was a plus......

Usually we are dodging rain and miserable weather for our shell runs.

And it's off to meet the fall weather head on.....

Busy working mostly, 6 days a week lately. On his day off he spends with his GF.

They both helped us haul in the stacks on their days off. He was letting his GF drive my tractor with the wagon to haul the pellets from the yard to the bunker. They fired the pellet down to the old fogies in the basement.

Little stove ran all day yesterday and through the night....
    45F outside this morning...
We are seeing SNOW in the Mt's to our East (Cascades) this morning....

We picked up 3/4" of very welcome rain since Yesterday about noon when it started raining.....

    SUMMER IS OFFICIALLY OVER NOW...
Horses are all in the barn and likely will be for the long term.....

The Daughter and Son in Law made a major mod on the barn this summer and opened up the East end of thew main aisle and added a slider door...plus a small sliding door so the old "Queen of the barn" (34 year old mare) could go in and out to a small private paddock.....

The end of the barn was open all summer except the actual sliding doors....The Son in Law was out there thrashing yesterday getting the plastic light panels in and the remaining tin cut and refit to close things up.....

A few little things left...but mostly secure from the weather.....

Really happy that we had the lovely weather to get our first 2 shell runs completed.

Cleaned part of the gutters on the Ranch House yesterday....Trimmed a couple tree branches that had gotten out over the roof and were going to start rubbing on roofing.....

Dry gutters are easily cleaned with the big shop vac......

So now we settle in for the long dark winter.....

Someone posted on our town's FB page, "Just curious if anyone has had any problems with their pellet stove over feeding. Looking for suggestions."

Several suggestions go right for the $$ - auger motor, circuit board etc. I suggested it probably needs a good cleaning and asked what kind of stove (figured if it's a Harman or St. Croix I can go over and look at it to see if that is the issue). She hasn't posted back but we'll see if she responds today.

Stone cold stove here. it's 70 outside and 50 at night (for a while), so no stove needed. Gave it a good cleaning and it's sitting.
