I've been using a cardboard box for years to toss kindling into. The box finally started falling apart last season and disintegrated over the summer. I definitely got my use out of that box hah. Figured I'd build one since my job gets pallets in all the time and it was nothing to reclaim some lumber off them. I overkilled it but it should last longer than the cardboard I hope. slapped 2 coats of stain on it and 2 coats of poly. 24x24x20ish it will swallow a 27 gallon tote of kindling. It came out a little nicer than I expected (for just slapping it together) and half thought about just using it to store wood next to the stove.
hah a friend already wants me to build them a crate for their records. Another one keeps telling me to start selling the pallet kitsch decorations.
the price was better than free, work paid me to do it perk of an underpaid job I might make another down the road for in the house. I have a breezeway I can stack 3-7 days worth of wood in, I prefer to keep it outside since it isn't far to walk and grab an armful and reload the stove.
