I found a good one a few years back at GSA auctions that fit the bill rather nicely! But, the secret is out now.

Luckily it is a standard. Crazy that there is no dip stick for the automatic transmissions.

As far as visiting friends...I don't have too. In such a small community everyone knows you and instantly notices what you drive differently. I've already had my chops busted several times. Folks have offered to pray for me, and folks have also asked if I'm gender fluid now.:startled:

Can you not order a standard cab chassis anymore. Last one we ordered we just got am/fm radio, vinyl floors, cloth seats, and crank windows. That sucks if you can't anymore.

Im not sure if they let you do that anymore. Years and years ago my buddy tried with a chevy and he had to get certain "luxuries". I think he did get crank windows and vinyl. But he was pizzed because he had to get AC. Lol

The closest I've seen to this is a Ford XL trim. Rubber flooring, all vehicles should have this as standard, manual widows and locks. Plain grey steel wheels. No chrome. Cloth seats. You can still ad a tow package and locking rear differential if you like. You can also chose an engine more powerful than the base. Back up cameras were a federal mandate as far as I know, or maybe that was the tire pressure monitor after the ford / Firestone debacle. Probably both.

Toyota Tacoma and Jeep do still. No full sizes have manuals now. Dodge was the last with a Cummins. Dropped the manual fairly recently.

the stock truck package no frills is a special order these days and has been for a while from my understanding.
I think they call them fleet package or something. Heck if I know, I've never looked at buying new.
I think an 8ft bed is special order these days even? They seem pretty rare on the road these days, everything is 6.5 or smaller.
Soccer dad trucks, sorry to the guys here who own those. no offense, just my opinion, where I grew up a real truck was an 8ft bed.

agree this next one is going to be worst than 08, they kicked that can down the road and it's up against the wall now.
I've made my mind up I won't buy anything newer than a 97 going forward. My car is a 95 and it has enough sensors on it for me.
    trucks are older per sig.

late 70's through the early 90's, iirc 20% interest rates on home loans. We had a small apx 800 sq 2 story home $44k no one could qualify that was about 82. traded the bank for a reposessed one they had- family growing needed a little more room. danced with the devil on that one. 79 had a 900 sq ft home different city 22k, same problem took 2 years to get that sold. fast forward 2017 sold my 2100 sq ft ranch 2 days never hit market. i haven't had a mortgage payment since 2002. paid cash for my current home. Wasn't what I wanted to do at that time but being self employed and divorced the banks just blow you off. they also don't like it when you have no debit, guess they consider that a credit risk? really on purchase that tradtionaly has always appreciated in the market. guess i just don't understand. been running my little machine shop for 30 years. if i couldn't pay cash for a machine tool i don't need it.

Best thing about owning a stick car is, no car thief can steal it because they don't know how to drive it....lol

I sure like my 14 Focus RS Turbo with it's 6 speed. It's a pocket Rocket and I can get 40 mpg if I drive sanely which I do but it's there if I need to use it. Only vehicle I've ever owned that will top 120 on an on ramp and it handles curves like it's on rails. Fords quit making them too. Fords has a better idea... build high price toasters... My insurance carrier insures it like an economy buggy, not the pocket rocket it is. 320 horsepower in a 4 door hatchback rollerskate.

Same thing here, no debt = no credit references. 28 years self employed little machine shop all machines fully paid for at time of purchase.

Housing prices are already on the decline but interest rates are going in the opposite direction.

You can. You just have to have the dealer order it from the manufacturer and then wait. I did this back in 2016 for my f250. Took about 6 weeks to get it but I got what I wanted without all the bells and whistles which cost big money.

it's been a few months but the last I heard, factory orders were taking 6 months to a year. Guys on the rv forum were complaining about how long their order was taking and buying used to wait for theirs to be delivered. Not sure how much that has changed. Part of the reason used truck prices have jacked up.

At work they have a new F250 4x4 S/C V8 (gas) el strippo work truck on order for over a year...still no build date...there was one, then it got moved back, then that date cancelled...dealer has no idea when it will show up.

And this true fact is also hilarious.

I learned to shift a 3 on the tree on my dads lap at 7-8 years old. 1969 Chevy 3/4 ton. Then is 73 f250 with 4 speed with creeper gear. My wife and I both prefer manuals over autos for most things. That would be daily driving in our non city stop and go driving. Performance cars. Off road. Both my Jeep were manuals. I do prefer the auto for towing our camper. I have towed with both.
