FBM find. It wasnt in their pics either. They had some trees taken down. Rain this morning. Went to scout it out this afternoon. Rain held off. Only had 261 with me. Wish i had a bigger saw but wasnt planning on cutting. SWEET dead ash trunk. No bark, no rot, no schmutz. Nice, clean and solid. IMG_1863.JPG Bucked, sectioned and loaded. IMG_1864.JPG IMG_1865.JPG IMG_1866.JPG
HUGE sugar maple right there and some other wood that was a tangled mess on the other side of the property. 36" rounds. Not messing with these. IMG_1862.JPG

    Nice find on the ash.

Yup intact and the isocore intact too. They stay on the truck and usually the X25 too. Isocore wouldnt half the biggest pieces after several whacks so had to sledge and wedge the first several rounds. Im a "tad" out of shape! :emb: Back feeling it tonight.

Wrestling BIG rounds not my forte anymore. Sugar maple rounds are HEAVY even when 16" diameter. Fun to cut with the 36" bar, but thats about it. Besides this wasnt that close to home either...20 minutes and nearly half hour to storage. Seldom do i go over 15 minutes from home. If this was close to home i may reconsider. They were bulldozing wood this weekend. Got another call from the prior score.

Nice Brad. The only major ash score I had was just like that. Barkless and clean as can be. Spoiked me.

    Real nice !

I need to get a pickup truck load of well seasoned firewood to start me off this season, so the other wood stacked dries up a bit more.

This was in Woodbridge and the dead tree wasnt pictured. The nicer logs had been scooped up and the the stuff i didnt take pictures of was a tangled mess with some softwoods mixed in. I put the moisture meter to some and some was good and some wasnt.

How much are you looking for? Find a big score and we'll go cutting.

Do i look fat??? Meeting up with Dave very soon to let him try the 460 and if he's nice maybe the 500i. I was gonna mention to you as maybe your 391 may suit his needs. What bar did you run when we went cutting last Winter? Also thought of that square ground 36" chain i just got too. We were talking about trying it out

No not fat , but I couldn't resist.
    You meeting him today?

Bar , oh boy. Might have been the 25 or 28. I have to look.
Whatever it was would still be on the saw. Have not changed any of the setups.

yeah, that is indeed nice Ash. funny how it can be sometimes. the stuff I cut on the trail that was all hung up in the air...about 25% was punky I figured hanging in the air would be fine.

then another log from another part of the property, lying on the ground for god knows how long is perfect just like the stuff you have there. it was also mostly barkless...so maybe that's the key.
