Thought I'd post a pic of the gun I can't shoot enough.my truck gun. Henry 357x. Shoots .357/.38 special. Been shooting and reloading more .38 specials...its all I could get at the time. They hardly make a sound out of this rifle. Gonna load some down this winter The keen eye will see..this one's ready to go 24/7 And the other is a gun I don't shoot as often as I'd like. My Savage 99 in.308. Perfect rifle ! Tip over scope mounts....basic scope..perfect !
I had a marlin 1894 in 44mag before the houseboat where I was storing my guns sank. I loved shooting that gun. Reloading it was super cheap and it was just fun to shoot!
Sorry to hear about your loss . That hurts. Those guns are pricey...and not easy to find . I hope your able to replace it someday. .44 mag is a dream to reload and shoot .
I grew up carrying dad’s Marlin 336C. Had a low-power scope and barely enough thumb room under it. The hammer had a rough right edge that I’d run my thumb over. I liked it so well that my first rifle was a 336CS 30-30 (they had added the safety by then). I’ve got a Leupold VX-3i scope on it 2.5-8x36. It just fits me - comes up right where I’m looking. Never had a sling on it, but borrowed a Marlin 44(mag?) at hunting camp and appreciated the sling it had.
I love me some lever guns!!! Nice rifles honeyfuzz! I've got a medium size pile of Henry's myself, but no x model because it makes me wanna puke it's so dang ugly.....no offense, just my opinion. At my house levers gotta look old fashioned.... I do have a Henry all weather in .357/.38spl.... super fun gun! Next on my need to buy list is a Rossi 92 stainless in 44 mag.
I do like how Henry finally added the sidegate for loading their rifles it's one of the reasons my lever guns are Marlins. I am another old fashioned fellow that likes his lever guns with the wood furniture that's the great thing about living in this country, the variety of firearms is outstanding!
I'm a wood guy too...but I needed something that I didn't feel like a had to baby..as it rides in the truck or tractor..or 3 wheeler ! The black furniture is growing on me !
Makes good sense. I like really nice guns, but they're kinda worthless because a person doesn't want to scratch em. Most of my guns get bruised eventually, some have even been banged up on the first trip to the range.
Been trying to stock up on 30-30 myself for a Henry or some other lever. I guess I want the brush gun that will like having a lot of use or I'm not even worried about the poly furniture. The Wood furniture on my .22lr Henry is more the caution for me.
I'd rather give mine a bit of a rash but more like a good rash. I do find some of the guns I own have a bit of..."pretty " in them. I'd rather have something that's been bumped around a bit
Nice, I always kinda liked the .32 win spl. And I think the best rifles are the ones with some family history attached to em!
I have kind of a sweet spot for lever guns myself. Especially 22s, several years ago I decided to put together a collection of as many different brands and models as I can. There’s quite a few out there, and the only Henry in the ones I have was bought for the grandson when he was 4 hours old
My first deer rifle as a kid was a Marlin model something in 35 Remington. For whatever reason that set the tone on my dislike of lever guns. Fast forward to a few years ago and after seeing this vintage marlin 32 rim fire gun with octagonal barrel and a curved metal but plate I have definitely found the love of some lever guns. I don't have one yet but my wife has a Henry golden boy. That 32 looked like this except the round barrel. If 32 rim fire ammo was available on tue regular Id have it in my safe.
I like the rectangle lever and the shape of the buttock. Theyade them in 22 lr as well but I haven't looked for one much yet.
