That fun didn’t even cost a tank of gas.

Also uses one tank of oil per tank of gas like a proper saw should. Squeeze the trigger all the way and watch out brother you’re about to experience mach 2 cutting.

Yup you are right, I thought I should say that too, but I was too lazy to type any more words.....:handshake:
I like 40 to 50cc saws for limbs.

This will definitely be a saw that is on the fine line between tool and toy. It will be well used, but its ok if it is overkill for 50% of what I do. It will get used less. But when it does, it needs to exceed expectations.

No budget, but I don't want to be foolish.

I resonate with the idea of the weight of a 60 or 70cc saw modded up if need be.

Pro editions are fine if that means a peformance/longevity increase. Everything I have now is homeowner grade, that has served me well so far.

Buy a 500i, don't even run it, just have it shipped to huskihl, once he's done with it you'll have more saw than you ever dreamed of in a nice light package. Those things are flat out vicious and very user friendly. 20" to 36" bar they do it well.

Yeah, I have an ms180 I like to use on really little stuff, cedar mostly..... but over about 4" limbs, I start getting high blood pressure waiting for it to cut......

Really? Mine zips through decent sized stuff. I even felled a 16" ash with mine and it went a lot quicker than I figured it would.

Yes it's a fine saw, and cuts very small stuff great.....but, when I really wanna cut small to medium stuff fast I reach for a 50cc saw.
I usually use the lightest saw for the job at hand, but when I've got acres of cedar and hardwood to limb I've got to use a saw that cuts right now!

I completely agree. Whenever people question my need for "pro" saws, I always say, "I enjoy the whole firewood process and the last thing I want to do, is fight an under powered saw and struggle getting through wood."

I only have a few tanks through mine so far, but I can see myself using it more than my 461s , or 660s for sure.

Yes as are all my saws except the MS400 which has a bark box muffler and foam air filter, but nothing internally has been altered.

That's good to know. I've read that some were very disappointed with a 36" bar on stock 500i's. Maybe they are just used to ported saws or something. I'm thinking about getting a second one and keeping a 28" on one and a 32", or 36" on the other. I need to try a 36" next time out.

Ive had folks cutting and quit as they were struggling with there 40-50cc homeowner specials. In i come with a pro saw and BAM, done in a heartbeat and wanting more wood to cut. Im with you and enjoy the entire process. My only regret is not getting a bunch of pro saws many years ago. FHC has been a "bad" influence on me!

I regret not buying pro saws earlier too man. I ran old Pro Mac 610's and 10-10's for about 8 -10 years and cut who knows how many trees with those, until I got my first 461, and I've bought several pro saws since. OPE was who was my "bad" influence, but I can see this place isn't going to help much either. Lol

It wasnt intentional to use the 36" on it but at the time it was the highest cc saw i owned (still is) and had big wood to use it on. First outing for the 500. IMG_4180.JPG
