Being a psych nurse I figured I'd take part in the men's mental health chop off. Here's my video. Pile is 10'x14'. Three truckloads, around a cord and a half. Pretty straight grained big leaf maple. Took 48 minutes to chop it all, no breaks. Camera cut off before I was done. Got some time on the new Fiskars and can say is way better than the home depot model. Going to be 80 degrees here this weekend and finally cool off next week with the return of the rain.

Heres a link to the whole process:

Dang. . I’d be a patient of yours if someone told me I had to do that by hand. If I tried, I’d be a patient at the ER.

Good for you to do some work! My much younger baby brother was a nurse at the state nut house. He picked up rock hounding seriously as a therapy. Digs into the mountains like a troll or something. He actually wears picks out frequently. Got to burn that stress, better than being admitted as a patient yourself.

nice. you are an animal with that tool in your hands!
I agree, the Isocore is the best maul I've ever used. I've got 14 ish cord on mine since March, I'll never use another as my go to.
I bet setting those logs up took the same time as splitting them, but real nice results!

I know that feeling. Leave it at the hospital.

It does take some time to set up and can only do it with the right wood but the splitting is so much faster. I only had to make four cuts on these 3 loads. the tree company did a great job bucking it.

Thanks. Splitting is my favorite part of firewood hoarding.

That’s PNW strength right there! A combination of Beast Mode and Sasquatch and experience helping others with mental health challenges!

Juniper Hill also has the best firewood ads in the Greater Seattle area…pics of the actual stacks you’re buying and an accurate estimate of the wood type. None of the “maple and cedar mix” BS where it’s a load of cedar and four maple splits. He should charge a little more though! ;)

    Great video!

Yeah, undoing normal childhoods was bad enough. What the education system is doing to kids now is gonna take a LOT of work.

Yeah, that would likely be the very end of my back. I'm not at steady pain-killer diet but I'm getting closer and closer.
