Yup. One shoulder down and the rest of the bear to go! (I'm no butcher but do enjoy doing it myself. The longest part is cutting off all the silver skin.)

Wait - long weekend? Short weekend for since it wasn't my off Friday.

Ah, just looked at the calendar. I've never had Columbus day off in the 40+ years I've been working. Had lots of jobs over that time - even those that nominally acknowledge it might be a holiday always swap it out for the day after Thanksgiving. Or, I think my present employer gives us a floating holiday in place of that (IDK, the give a planned 6-7 days of holidays per year - then they give us 3-4 floating holidays to take when we want).

The only reason I know it's a long weekend is because the post office is closed on Monday and there are 50-million leaf peepers up here. It's the last hurrah for the tourist masses before we get a brief respite and some peace and quiet.

this weekend is a long weekend for us. It is Canadian thanksgiving. I made it extra long by taking Friday off to get a few things done and caught up on.

Spent a lot of my day rearranging my garage and garage addition. Wood working stuff out of the main to make way for a tire machine and balancer. Bike shop boss is closing shop end of this month. Said he’d probably be selling them to me. Fingers crossed.

    Caffeine!

Couple days off and kids are home from College!

Still hard to believe our twins are off into their first year of College. o_O W.T. .?

Hopefully we will all do something together today. Maybe take a ride up in the Adirondacks and check out the leaves and have lunch somewhere. If they want to. I’ll try to get some firewood cut from 7:30-9:30 and then clean up.

I suppose. I use rarely abut since it is already wired and mounted, might as well get another. I probably take it off and throw it one the bench to "tinker" with a bit first.

Well, I did retire and enjoyed over a year of retirement. After we got all our Covid shots and the majority of our community had theirs, I put my name in for on-call casual work. You know, a day here and a day there. Well, the person who was hired for my position has some major medical issues so I ended working for most of last school year. I really enjoyed it. When the temporary posting for the job came up again for this school year, we decided that it would be good for the bank account if I worked another year. So I am working again. I enjoy seeing the students coming in at Grade 8 level looking lost and scared and leaving at Grade 12 feeling more confident and looking forward to being productive in the big world. A lot of potential is hidden in those lost and scared Grade 8s.

yes there was frost this morning and yes windows are open.

Shepherd is pretty good at killing them without odor. The pup apparently not:doh:

Met with the Forester today. He broker the sale of my neighbor. Figured i could get a good bid from the logger already here. Going to be pretty aggressive to open up the view to the lower pasture and the ridge a mile away.

1200 acre property on the north side of the farm has a landing right there. A couple years ago, i worked with them to use part of my place to turn their trucks around. They are fine with me using the yard. Pays not to be a jerk, when a neighbor is needing a favor.

Forester saw a large dead ash that would supply my wood needs this winter. I told him i dont mess with felling. He said he used to drop trees all the time and won a National competition once. Said he would get it down. Likely 30 inch trunk.
will do a thread on the harvest.

Got a bunch of outdoor stuff done yesterday in anticipation of the weather moving in. Yard looks bare but ready without any yard decorations and benches.

It's coming and seems to be earlier than last year.
