We had 30.2 this morning with a load of pine providing the heat. That load of ash with pine on top last night worked out really nice, before I called it a night the fan on the wood stove was turned off, we had plenty of coals for a restart. We had a temp of 71 up here before the first fire in the basement.
Only one night of fire so far, last Friday. Last few days have been beautiful, 72 today. Looks like some cool days next week. Tis okay because I got a new glass gasket and door gasket I am going to swap out.
Last couple days have been warmer so no fires here. Probably have one in the morning as it’s forecasted to cool back down overnight
foothillsfire - Your moniker makes me think of this. Foothills Fire covers an area pretty close to me. Good bunch of folks.
Cool logo, very fitting for Colorado. When I was with Alberta Wildfire my patch was not quite as cool. Always thought the flames on it looked goofy.
Overnight temps were in the 60's! What the heck? It was supposed to drop into the 40's and rainstorms. Temps finally began to drop at 6:00 as if they were on some sort of deadline. And windy again.
I see you have the foothill with the "M" logo incorporated into the patch. First time I saw the school of mines logo was in the 70's while on a tour of Coors. At that time, Coors could not be sold east of the Mississippi- giving credence to the movie "Smokey and the Bandit". My buddy went back to Michigan with 29 cases of Coors in his trunk! About 20 years ago, we toured Coors once again and during the shuttle from the parking to the hospitality center, the bus driver asks...... "Did anyone notice the large "M" on the mountainside on their drive here and do you know what it means?" My nephew breaks the awkward silence of no one wanting to be the first to respond with a very loud and clear ..... "Michelob?"
46/70. Been having a morning fire of SS wood for the last few days. Clouds moving in today and rain tomorrow.
Pleasant here this am and has bee for a few days. Stove is off and cold but that will change tonight according to NWS. Cold front moving in so I'll be firing it up this evening I presume.
We’ve had the OWB rolling 24/7 since mid August, winter tires on the vehicle. Now that we’re have snow on the ground for the season, it’s time for the ice rink. Hockey is around the corner.
Ha ha!! That’s hilarious! That had to get a chuckle out of the Coors folks. I’ve done the Coors tour too. The tour guides were really fun. Glad I brought a DD too! That patch isn’t the department I work for. That’s just a department that runs pretty close to where I live. They cover a pretty gnarly stretch of I-70 up along the North side of Evergreen.
... I did the Coors tour back about 22 years ago... I did it just hours before I did a job interview for a micro injection molding company out there... maybe thats why I didn't get the job?
Wow mid August. Mid August here was Hotter than Hot! ; humid and unbearable. This really brings out what a difference we can have climate wise.
62 degrees and the rain has begun. They say we will get about 3/4” of rain today with some wind. A quick mixed Hardwood fire this morning for about an hour, then boiler off.
I've been burning a batch daily all summer for DHW. It's been getting in the 30's and 40's at night pretty regular but still haven't needed to turn the heat on yet. I'm guessing in another couple weeks it will be time to keep the boiler lit for the rest of the season.
Beautiful, clear, brisk day here. It’s been in the high 30’s all morning. Been burning bark to knock the chill off. The Aspens in the front yard are about to lose what’s left of their leaves.
