Still pretty impressive even with the load handler! Those things seem to work pretty good. Any Achilles heal you’ve found with them? I’ll bet you appreciate good help like your student
Stupid Ford engineers still don't recess or even have the bed mounts flush with the bed itself so if a piece of wood hits that just right the mat can get caught up and tear. Replacements are cheap though but yeah, those things are a major back and time saver. I've been using one for almost 25 years now.
If thats a face cord it would unload it. I have a couple small pieces of plywood i put behind the wheels wheels to help funnel the splits. Its not foolproof but given the way you stack it may unload most of it. Splits may catch as its cranked. I find myself not even bothering with it as i have to stack most of the wood i deliver anyhow. In your case most of the splits by the cab would topple and not get unloaded. Keeping the bed clean helps a lot. Something im not religious about getting done.
Thanks. Our truck bed has the spray on liner too. (Rhino liner) ... Wonder if that would let it slide?
Yes. Standard "drop in" one. Came with the truck. Wood crumbs and other crud gets under it. If i had to get one id get the rhino or spray in place one. The fact that my tailboard is destroyed doest help either...hence the sheet metal.
The spray on liner actually grips stuff. Doesn't let things slide around like the drop in liner does. That's what I'm wondering about on the load handler.
It wouldn't. You need to clear in front of and behind the wheel wells. I often pile the wood up higher but try to keep most if not all of it on the mat itself. With that method, it cranks off really easily.
I don't know how those spray on liners would work with the mat. It would definitely cause more friction and be harder to crank but not sure how the mat would hold up against it....
I might could get a sheet of thin plywood and place it under the mat to slide on. Could also rub parifin wax on board. Harbor Freight about 20 miles from us has one. I'll check it out.
As long as its not too rough i dont see a problem. The mesh is some tough stuff. Maybe a sheet of plywood/OSB under it???
Oh it's flying out the door but a new record will be set this year so it will take some time till it's all gone.
