I see what you're talking about with the light shining on it. Didn't notice it much when we were splitting it. It did have some nice ray flecks in it...
After work and breakfast this morning, we moved the rest of the older logs from the 1st skids we made to the processing area... Cleaned the area between the skids, pulled up the bent T-posts and dug 2 holes 36" deep for some 10' steel pipe uprights. Glad that red clay wasn't dry... Got about 1 1/2 - 2 trailer loads sorted and stacked by 11:30... Still have more to go there, plus about 2 more loads to bring home
They are some nice logs... Blue Samson and the County Line are gonna have a party... Processor is nice but .... Now a southern GTG woukd be awesome...we'll Git'ter done though...
Yesterday morning, finished sorting the last 4 loads we brought home. This is the big limb and tops wood, about a trailer load About 3 trailer loads of main trunk sections. Most are 9 or 10.5' long. The biggest one next to the bottom is 7.5' Then we did a few odd jobs around the woodyard. Put forks on the tractor, prepped another tote...cut a 1/3 cord of 15" splits for a coworker.
It is sweet. Especially with the right size rounds for 1 pass splitting. My wife said we really need 3 people to run it...lol...
Nothing like a beautiful view from the log yard... Took this picture as I got home from work. Ate supper, then got the lights set up again, moved a new tote into position. Bucked a nice pile of smaller rounds, then split and stacked the tote. Had to cut a few more logs to finish filling it up. Custom 14" length. Oak and a little cherry. We just piled it on the conveyor belt and then stacked it.
and with the right wood she's probably correct... that video show's it how much its capable of.... But with all those hydraulic sticks... I'd probably get confused...
If I can run it, you would breeze on it...I still grab the wrong stick for wedge or log lift sometimes...
We have gotten a few loads delivered this past week. 1st load was hickory and oak mix... Got it stacked on the porch... They now want a load of greener wood, so it can start drying We started on the oldest logs, which were small and cut in Feb. Another load of red and white oak We started on the 2nd log rack, which is about half full of logs from the Plantation clearing job we habe been doing. This round came from the first tree we cut there. I sprayed the end red because of the metal... Going to give it to the saw shop for their display. This oak will be sorted and staged in 3 totes for the restaurant.
That’s a pretty rack of wood Jeff. Did your new machine make those splits? They all look identical in size.
Which rack? The one on the porch, the left side is oak, it came thru Blue Samson. The right side is the hickory, most of it was noodled and what was split, was done on the County Line. The racks/shed behind me in the picture, the right side was done with County Line. The left side that can be seen was the first we did with Blue Samson... We're taking the time to resplit the larger pieces. Nobody down here has a boiler anymore.
Sunday Lefty pulled out a pile of logs that have been sitting around for 4-5 years. A lot of white oak, mulberry, walnut. Hackberry and maple are a little past prime, but Lefty will burn it or we will sell as bonfire wood. Added more to the totes since these pictures but haven't pulled them from my phone yet. Oak was split small but still plenty wet, so we won't sell it until next winter.
