As I have posted an ID thread & found out I have a Pignut Hickory to go along with my Honey Locust from todays felling. Both trees are about 18” - 19” at the cut.

The Pignut was a downhill leaner & didn’t require much for placement in a nice open spot.

The Honey Locust was a downhill & left leaner, it needed to fall uphill & to the right to avoid some Oaks & Hickories.

The neighbors dead Oak needs to come down in the pasture before it falls on the fence. I will have to talk to him about letting me take it down.

That's some tasty looking stuff! I'd love to have some hickory for making axe handles.

Good stuff there! Nice straight trunk on that one. Was that HL thorn free? Most of the landscaped planted ones around here grow outward and few nice knot free logs in them.

Negative on the thorn free, it had a few but not as many as some.
